HI,

Most but not all spaces after periods were removed when I copied this text from MS Word in a .docx file to this post. The inconsistency is curious and however nothing should be changed using copy paste so this also seems strange behavior. Text shown on this page is after I edited the text to add back the spaces. -- please comment.

Hyperlinks created in text written in MS Word appear in editor however do not work in browser. These same Hyperlinks do work in mobile browsers. -- please fix.

Hyperlinks created internal to easy blog editor do not work in browsers. These same Hyperlinks do work in mobile browsers. -- please fix.

Links dialog only appear when full linked title in the text is highlighted (as shown) rather than when you click on link....it would save time in the editor if simply clicking the link/url would open the links dialog. This is a matter of convenience. -- please promote to feature request.

Thanks,

Todd
Hi Tkabe,

Easyblog editor does not have the same format as miscrosoft word .docx format and we do not recommend user to simply copy and paste the text from ms word directly into easyblog composer. If you want to copy something from ms word into easyblog editor, you must paste the content inside notepad for example and copy the text from notepad into the easyblog editor. Unfortunately easyblog do not offer to support the same format as ms word currently as it require a lot of work to get this done correctly.

A followup question regarding the Composer/editor. I switched to using TinyMCE which solved the issue of copy/paste from MS Word and provided a few additional features. Regarding the composer settings in the General settings:

1. I have my EasyBlog>settings>general>composer>default composer set to the EasyBlog Built-in default composer. I have set the editor in the Author>author>edit author>basic settings>editor set as TinyMCE for two user accounts: superuser and another account (HMI - a registered user, author, publisher) for testing. I notice that even with the author>editor set to TinyMCE the editor that appears during create new post is the EasyBlog default editor.

Could you check this setting and determine how this should be corrected in the code or how the conflict could be corrected?

2. I also notice that the post templates available using the default easyblog editor are not also available using the TinyMCE editor. I have not tested other editors. Are post templates created specific to one editor? (accessible from only one editor) I noticed that post templates can be marked as global - suggesting that the template could be used by more than one editor. This appears not to work. If I set my default composer to TinyMCE - when I open the composer the pop-up dialog with template selection previously found using the default editor, does not appear.

See screen captures posted below - For an unknown reason I could not add screen capture here using IE.

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Hi Tkabe,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. Please find my answers from your inquiries below.

This is actually a default behavior where easyblog will only use the editor set from the backend > easyblog > settings > general > composer in order to avoid confusion for the site admin. We will remove the editor options from the author settings in the next release of easyblog to avoid confusion later on.

2. I also notice that the post templates available using the default easyblog editor are not also available using the TinyMCE editor.

Yes this is also a correct behavior of the post templates since post template are only based on the easyblog built in editor that using combination of blocks for the layout. Hence post templates are only appear when you are using easyblog built in editor.

Thanks for the update regarding pending administrator changes.

Regarding the Global Template option, would this also be removed since templates are only available with the easyblog default editor?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

You can actually turn off this feature from your backend > easyblog > settings > general > composer > post template, http://screencast.com/t/LgvUPH4xnlxd if you do not want to use post templates across the site.

Thanks for the clarification regarding enable/disable post templates.

I guess I am confused by the reference to "Global templates". What does "Global" refer to if not a reference to where the templates would be accessible such as in multiple editors? Core templates would suggest to me templates only available in the built-in Easy Blog Composer or created by Stackidea as apposed to templates created by administrator/publishers. I am trying to image how Global setting would be used.

Since the templates are only available for the EasyBlog default composer, maybe an update to the feature tip for the enable/disable post templates or the selection field for the default composer would help clarify which editor has access to the post templates i.e. "Post templates are only available using the built-in Easy Blog Composer".

Thanks again!

Hi Tkabe,

Ah I am sorry for the confusion here. Global template means that everyone on your site can use the template on their blog post. Refer my screenshot here when super admin trying to create a new post template and there will be an option to set the template as global template, http://screencast.com/t/WM5rVj56fZR . Core templates however is the built in templates that are already exist prior to the installation of easyblog 5.

Since the templates are only available for the EasyBlog default composer, maybe an update to the feature tip for the enable/disable post templates or the selection field for the default composer would help clarify which editor has access to the post templates i.e. "Post templates are only available using the built-in Easy Blog Composer".

Thank you for your kind suggestion. We will see if we can add some extra tooltips right next to the post templates settings to avoid some confusion in the future.
