Hi all,

I am trying to get Easyblog to work but for some reason there is a huge whitespace section? Can you tell me if you have seen this issue before and how to solve it?

That would be great

You can check the URL I attached. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Kind regards,

Jacco Verburg
Jacco,

It looks like there is a HTML module positioned above Easyblog component.

Check to see if you have a module set to appear on this position on this page.

When I delete everything from the sidebar (see red box in attachment) the page does appear without the whitespace. But this sidebar is essential for me - do you, or someone else, have any idea how to configure it so that I can still use that sidebar?

Other pages do appear normally, for example the page below

http://events4christ.nl/index.php/component/events_booking/?view=event&id=3883&Itemid=103

That does appear normally.

Thanks.

Hello Jacco,

It looks like the way your template is designed, seems to be really problematic because as soon as a clearing is added on one of the element, the height of the item automatically drops down because it clears the floating for the sidebar. I am not too sure what is the best way to fix this but most of our designers are currently not available due to the long holidays but I will pass this to them as soon as they get back

I think what is missing on the .leftframe of your template structure is a float: left . Perhaps this is what you can try to add to fix this,

.leftframe
{
float: left;
}

.content
{
min-height: 1200px;
}

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your answer - sadly this does not work fully yet. See attachment for what happens then.

The articles do start at the top now so it is partly solved - but after a certain amount the background stops and the articles go on. I tried playing with the min-height to put that to larger and that did help BUT then if there are less articles the background continues also so that is not good.

Hello,

Unfortunately there's no other work around because the structure of the template Whenever there is a clear:both on any elements on the content, it will cause the huge gap. The only work around for this is to set a higher height, the template itself is actually pretty badly constructed and you should request the template developer to look into the template structure

Jacco,

I have been following this thread discussion. May I suggest that you consider a reliable template that is designed to work properly and especially with built in support and testing for StackIdeas extensions from the template provider. Some template providers are better than others and support their template customers to make fixes.

Based in your current template which is obviously not up to quality standards, sometimes you have to weigh the time wasted trying to fix a problem template vs. getting a new template so you can progress forward. Imagine that if this mainbody area of the template you are using is not working and is a problem, what future problems will arise with this template. I have been in a similar situation as you with a template that became more problems than it was worth. I found it best to switch to a reliable template from a top quality template provider, which saved me huge trouble and lost time, not to mention all the time wasted from seeking the help that the StackIdeas team members had to expend on helping me to get the troublesome template to work. The StackIdeas Team bends over backwards to resolve issues, but if they can't fix it, it is a huge indicator that it is time to get another reliable quality template, that is supported by the template provider. May i suggest you look at these templates, as I know the template providers give excellent support for their template customers.:

1. Bow Themes RT Magazine - http://stackideas.com/blog/bowthemes-releases-new-joomlate-template-supporting-easyblog
You can read more in the recent blog post and see what it looks like and how the template provider is working to see it support EasyBlog etc.

2. JoomlArt Purity III - new reflexive free template that is designed to work with major extensions such as EasySocial and Easyblog and best of all it is free.
http://www.joomlart.com/joomla/templates/purity-iii

3. Three templates that are responsive and designed to work with Easyblog from Joonlart.com

Thanks for sharing Randall But the problem here is not really just about supporting EasyBlog. Any elements within the component area that has a styling of "clear: both;" will lead to the same issue too

Yes, I agree it is not an issue with EasyBlog. That's why I recommended that Jacco get another template. If EasyDiscuss or EasyBlog or EasySocial can't display properly, the chances are very very high that any other extension will have the same issues, which means it is a serious template issue and flaw that will only lead to more time consuming issues.

I am about to dump my RT template after paying for my year subscription. It is a pain to get RT templates to do what I find so easy to do with other templates. I am going to give it one more try, but after today if I can't get RT templates to resize the sidebar modules properly, I'm going to bite the cost and find a better template provider. I am looking at BowThemes.com and have downloaded the Bowthemes Free template their Magazinew template to try it out tonight if I can't fix the sidebar issue with my RT template.

You should try to get RT support to help you out. After all, you have been paying them, so why not request them for help :P

Getting support from Rckettheme is not at all like the outstanding support that I get from StackIdeas. I do get support but it is not the same quality of support I have become used to with StackIdeas. It's almost as if I shouldn't ask for support because of the attitude I get sometimes when asking support questions.

I downloaded the latest RT template last night, installed it today and made excellent progress today and decided to only ask for support from RT when absolutely necessary. I found some older threads that are helping me resolve some template issues.
