My plan is to open a blog-server just for Australian-Blogger.
So there will be a lot of different blogger with different blogs.
At the moment every blogger can post in other's kategories but thats a no go....
How can i build a "jail" for every author the he only can post in his own blog / kategorie?

For me its very important and i think that might be a "normal" option in easyblog...

best regards
Heiner
Hi Heinz-Erich Broecker,

Yes, that can be done by setting the permission of the category by:
1. Click Category> Select Category> Permission> Assigned Joomla User Group http://screencast.com/t/jo0EHWjw

Sorry, that doesnt work.

I've changed the right for all categorys to: READ: ALL, BLOCK CREATION/EDITING: Author.

The author only has the rights Registered and Author (in Joomla) but for him its still possible to create a new blog-entry into another user's kategory.

Best regards
Heiner

How can i send you the login-credentials? Because now its an "open ticket" ...

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

As you add the credential in the section stated above, its only visible to stackideas support/developers staff

I've updated my credentials for the site, and also the site itself.

Hello Heiz,

Is all your authors from the same "Registered" and "Author" group? If all the authors are also in this group then your setup is incorrect. If you only want to allow specific users to have access to specific category, then you need to assign them into the respective user groups in Joomla.

Hi Mark,
that means if i want to restrict writing and creation rights only to the author of this blog-category I have to create for all authors separatly groups and define them into this group as the only member who can write/create?

Ok, thats an idea.

But one category is always displayed: the primary group.

How can i disable the primary group?

best regards
Heiner

Hi Heinz-Erich Broecker,

Kindly find my response to your inquiries below:

-> Yes, you're correct here

How can i disable the primary group?
-> Unfortunately, there is no way to disable the primary category when you create a new blog post, where it is a compulsory to have a default primary category.

Hi Heinz,

Kindly find my response to your inquiries below:
Ok, but how can i make this invisible?
-> Do you mean you want to make it (primary category) hidden for all user? It can be done by do some css code, but it is not advisable, where the primary category is always got checked after you hide it and user no longer can select the primary category as you make apply the css code below:
div#fd .eb-composer-category-item.selected.is-primary {
display: none;
}

Second point: found that 2 menu-entries are misplaced
-> Seems like there is some issue when the tab got longer language string (by using the German language) I've make language override for the tab string, and shows fine now. Please give it a try

Hi,
yes, now the second point works fine now, but after going deeper into configuration I found next issue

Look at the picture....???

More and more problems appearing.

Before it runs out of my control can you please answer me the following:
Is it possible to configure easyblog for a large count of bloggers with write/create access only to their own blogs without checking any boxes (primary category).
If yes, How?

Do you have an example site to have a look at it?

All changes made now will be overwritten wih next release?

BTW.: the link to the documentation also doesn't work: @Dashboard --> http://docs.stackideas.com/easyblog/

best regards
Heiner

Hi Heiner,

I'am sorry for the inconvenient cause.
Kindly find my response to your inquiries below:
1. Look at the picture....???
-> Maybe there is some miss-translated/not fully translated http://screencast.com/t/jlKpeTXZ there, where it suppose to be translated:
categories=kategorien http://screencast.com/t/rxh5jwRP7
category= kategorie http://screencast.com/t/Udi5QVPpDOvY
I've make language override to these language string as well

2. Is it possible to configure easyblog for a large count of bloggers with write/create access only to their own blogs without checking any boxes (primary category).
If yes, How?
Do you have an example site to have a look at it?

-> Unfortunately, it is not possible in current EasyBlog default behavior. Where the default primary group was compulsory to be accessible by all user group as user want to create a new blog post, the default primary group must be set.

Having said that, if you require us to perform the customization for you, you can always request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com and select "Customizations" . Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

3. All changes made now will be overwritten wih next release?
-> All the language override that has been made earlier will not overwritten with next release as it is not in the core file of EasyBlog

4. the link to the documentation also doesn't work
->Perhaps you can try this link: https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/welcome

Best regard,
Fadhli

More than disappointed....

I've bought a software to create a blog-server.
This software supports more than one author by default, so for me it's a common behavior to separate each author from the others.
That's by default not possible (creating a separate group for each author can't be a solution), but OK, i can handle this.
At least there might be only one more adjustment to do (author's default categorie when writing a new article) and you offer me to request a quote for the customization? Really?

Frustrating

Hello Heinz,

I am not too sure where did you saw in our feature list where it states author separation but we never have such functionality in EasyBlog. It is a true multi authoring system where different users could login and write their own blog posts and visitors can view blog posts by authors / categories / teams or a single layout that contains all blog posts from the site.

There isn't a feature currently that allows user to only be posting into their own "blogs". Perhaps something that you would consider is to create a menu item that links to the single author layout. When accessing the particular menu item, it would only list down blog posts authored by the same user. However, this would require you to create multiple menus and if you intend to have thousands of authors, this might not make much sense.

Well....

"Normal" User who create a blog anywhere in the internet on an blog-server won't be able to write into another blog of other user's ! Right?

So for me its a standard feature if you build a blog-software with the possibility of more than one author. Everything else seems like a bug for me ....sorry for that.

But, after all my problems and tickets and frustrated moments with this software I'm just so tired.
I will stop my project with easyblog and joomla and will switch to wordpress, hopefully a better choice.

Heiner

Perhaps I'm missing something, but viewing a blogger profile is like having a user's "own category" as seen here:
http://easyblog.stackideas.com/blogger/amalinatasha

In terms of access from the homepage depends on how you want to create the navigation to them. Latest blogs? Featured?
If I missed something, please post an example to what you are trying to achieve. While I don't have the computer wizardry of Stackideas, I do know how to move, remove, and add stuff from other pieces of content as well as come up with creative ways to display something.

My methods require zero hacks (although a super light weight module might be in order for code placement) so that updates are pretty painless.

Different site has different needs and there is no way for us to suit everyone's needs. Your assumptions may be correct based on what you are trying to achieve but not everyone has the same goals / requirements that you are seeking for.

For instance, take a look at https://www.cnet.com/ . It contains a mash-up of all authors on the site and they are not constrained to their own blogs.
