Hello there,

I wonder how to set ES for an exclusive club like a paid association. If Applications had an ACL, probably it would be easy to set it up.

What I want is that site visitors can make registration using ES form. Then, as registered users, they can use site comments, forum, but not ES without having put in right user group by admin. They should not be able to use ES profile.

Any suggestion?

Thanks and best regards,

Zafer
Hello Zafer,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I not sure if I get you correctly or not but what you can do is, create two profiles in Easysocial. One for your 'registered' user where this problem has very limited access to EasySocia. Second one is to your 'exclusive' group. So when guest register on your site, they will need to choose which profile type they want. Also, you are looking for some paid subscription for your exclusive group, take a look at this JPayplan component where it provide your site to have paid subscrirption based site.

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/membership-a-subscriptions/16566

You can then add a paid subscription to your profile to your 'exclusive' user group.

Hope this help and have a nice day

@Zafer, I know ES has tentatively scheduled payment/subscription capability for ES, possibly in 1.3 or 1.4. This won't compete with 3rd party extensions, probably in that it won't, directly, support other extensions. But with that caveat, how would you compare PayPlan vs the future ES capability to build "pay-to-play" or "pay-for-features" social communities?

Hello Eileen,
I didnt try PayPlan yet. So I cannot say anything about that. Now my site is at the beginning stage. Therefore, I dont want to pay for a membership extension at present. Instead, I will go for freemium model. Probably after a few months later, when the site becomes a value for users to pay for, then I can consider PayPlans if still there is no ES subscription feature.
