As in subject - I have no idea
a) how to set up a valid bucket path
b) when files are copied to amazon s3? Should be there some special cron task or system triggers such action by itself?
Has anybody set up remote storage for easy social?
Hi,

You can head over to EasySocial -> Settings -> Remote storage to set it up. No special cron link is needed and files will be automatically upload/download to the remote storage.

Jason

My question is should I put there simply bucket name or path... I cannot find the path at s3 management console.
Also I'm confused, should the path look like
BUCKET_NAME.s3-website-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com
or as an URL - which I'm unable to find.

I also can't set up Easysocial Amazon S3 to work. I did everything was guided ES GUIDE

What about Bucket path, is it enough to write bucket name? Or there should something like url. How much time usually passes after uploading picture in the Easysocial stream and it appearing in S3 bucket?

I've tried everything:
full bucket path; slash before bucket name, bucket name only. I've changed storage region from Ireland to US Standard - still no luck... It's frustrating... isn't it?

Hello, Have not tried s3 with ES however i use it with akeeba backup. are you sure your ID and secret key are correct? also i think upper or lower case makes a difference., enter all names exactly as in s3. Akeeba backup has a field for the bucket name and another field for the path. I think this eliminates a lot of confusion. Good luck

I've posted a ticket to support already and now I wait for support to confirm the issue.

I just set up my Amazon S3 bucket and it took awhile to figure out how to do it. The documentation in the Tutorial was helpful but didn't answer a few questions for me. In particular it was difficult to figure out where to go to the Access Key ID and the Secret Key. That was tricky to find in AWS. I did find it finally in the "Security Credentials" area. And, then I realized that the ID and Key was not already set up but that I had to create them.

Regarding the path to the bucket that is also not clear so I just put in my bucket name and hope that will work since that bucket name is related to my ID and secret key.

Now I am very curious if the files will be uploaded auto-magically every time a photo, attachment of avatar is uploaded or if I need to get a cronjob set up. As we keep asking questions we will all learn.

Agreed, we'll be updating our documentation on how one would obtain the access key id and secret key. As for uploading of photos over to S3, it requires that you setup the cronjob. As long as you have setup the cronjob for your e-mails these items would also be uploaded to S3 automatically in batches.

OK. That helps. I will go back to the documentation to set up the cronjobs.

BTW, I noticed that in your documentation you have filler text for CloudAccess.net

Basically they will create any cronjob that you need for you. So, you have to just tell them what you need. I will set up my ticket with them now.

In the meantime I wonder if you want to change the filler text with instructions to contact CloudAccess.net for help.

The folks at Stack-ideas are asking me to get the details from you of the cronjob that needs to run for EasySocial to send out the emails and also to send upload the avatars, attachments, and images.

i told them I would ask here and report back to them from you. Hopefully soon you can put the instructions into the documentation section at
http://docs.stackideas.com/administrators/cronjobs/cloudaccess_cronjobs
so that i could then point the support at Cloudaccess.net to that page and they could create the cronjob for EasySocial users from those instructions.

Thank you, Sean

Sean, is it possible that you can provide us with your Cloud Access panel so that I can take some screen shots?

Hello Mark,

I will create a Contacts/Sub-Accounts user for you and open up lots of privs. Once you are finished please let me know. :-)

If what I open up is not enough then please let me know. Once you login you should have access to all my web sites there. But, the one I am developing for easy social is temporarily at starch-smart.cloudaccess.net

To know more about Cron tab from CloudAccess.net please refer to the following links :

1.) http://www.cloudaccess.net/additional-resources/58-ftp-sftp-ssh/582-creating-cron-jobs-from-an-ssh-terminal.html

Although this is not a very user friendly way to set up cronjobs, it may be the only way there besides having them set up the cronjob themselves which they are happy to do for us once we give them the good instructions that I am sure you are about to write.

I believe that my Amazon S3 is set up correctly since the bucket on amazon is filling up. But It also seems my site is still serving images from my host at starch-smart.cloudaccess.net

Mark,
I realize it is all working well. I had looked at the icon images of the members BEFORE I logged in. I just now logged in to be sure I wasn't saying something wrong and then discovered the avatars and background images are coming from Amazon S3 bucket. So, it all works as planned on the first try. Thanks, Sean
