Is there any way to display categories on the frontpage/category page without user logging in?
Similar to stackideas forums page.
Dear Stackideas Team,

I had found that this is not really a EasyDiscuss problem or is it?
It is strange to say that after the installation, the User Manager > Permissions had cause no action to the website.

So this is what I had done.

1. Go to Global Configuration > Users Manager
2. Nothing require to do here, just press the 'Save' button.
3. Now go to your frontend and your categories should be shown.

If this is a general issue, I think a lot of user is having this problem when they first install EasyDiscuss.
Not sure if this is a Joomla core issue or EasyDiscuss issue.

It took me 2 days to figure out how to make the category to appear without user login.
This should be written as a MUST read for all customers.i7

Hello Vincent,

Please go to the categories in Backend > EasyBlog > Categories > Your Category > Category Access Tab > Privacy = Viewable to all user.

If problem still persist please give your backend access so we could set it for you. Also provide us with FTP just in-case.

Thanks:)

Hello Vincent,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here,
If i'm not getting wrong meaning of your first question, you can using the Easydiscuss module call "mod_easydiscuss_navigation.zip".
If you're not referring on this, can you elaborate your question with more details, and include a screen shot of what you are referring to? Please advise.

Hi Arlex,

Here's the screen shot.

Question:
mod_easydiscuss_navigation.zip - Without login, it only showed "ALL", and none of the other categories appears here before user login. The categories only appear when user is logon. How to achieve.

Question:
No Category is showing here, it says "There are no discussions here" under /forums/categories/, how to make categories to appear without user logging in.

Question:
How to make the navigation appear like what we see on stackideas?

Question:
After main category is clicked, the sub categories will appear just like in stackideas?

Hello Vincent,

Please find your answer to your queries below.
Question:
mod_easydiscuss_navigation.zip - Without login, it only showed "ALL", and none of the other categories appears here before user login. The categories only appear when user is logon. How to achieve.
You can configure from your backend > Easydiscuss > Categories > select "YourCategory" > Permission tab > Add "Public" user group in this tab "Who can view discussion in this category" -> see my screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/qygU8dGGq

Question:
No Category is showing here, it says "There are no discussions here" under /forums/categories/, how to make categories to appear without user logging in.
You can follow the first question i answered for you at above, all the category permission also configure at the permission tab page.

Question:
How to make the navigation appear like what we see on stackideas?
After main category is clicked, the sub categories will appear just like in stackideas?
Unfortunately that navigation module do not support similar like our stackideas forum site, that was do some customization from the official.
But you can configure from your backend > Easydiscuss > Setting > layout > categories > Enable - Toggle categories , then this option will display on category front page, when you click that main category then it will show out subcategory -> http://screencast.com/t/jE1cANpq

Thanks for sharing. Yup, you're right, when the Joomla released version 3.2 that moment, a lot of customer facing this issues also.
Actually that was Joomla core issue from Joomla 3.2, when you resave that setting from Joomla backend > User > User Manager > Option , then it work fine.
