Hi!

Additionally to EasyDiscuss and a part of EasySocial, I am now also running EasyBlog on my site - lets see, maybe I manage to use all your products in a couple of month - they are really great & great support

My issue:

What is the best setup for login and registration?

Currently I am using the Joomla module for it. I couldn´t find one one in either EasyDiscuss or EasyBlog.

The Joomla registration is quite generic and I also want to get rid of the "EDIT MY PROFILE" link in the Joomla module, as this leads to another Profile view, which is again different and quite confusing.

I guess there is kind of a standard setup, what you could recommend in order to setup a proper registration and login process, based on the individual needs, which come by having EasyDiscuss and EasyBlog as an active service?

Thanks,
Alex
Hi there,

The Joomla registration is quite generic and I also want to get rid of the "EDIT MY PROFILE" link in the Joomla module, as this leads to another Profile view, which is again different and quite confusing.

It is controlled by Joomla and in order for your to achieve this, you need to do some customization on the files itself.

By the way, for your information, Easyblog and Easydiscuss dont have it own users' registrations as it will always use other components such as Joomla and Easysocial.

In your case, why dont you use Easysocial as it login/registrations platform? You can link them all-together, where one users, use on account through-out your site. Use Easysocial for all informations, avatar, details and others for Easyblog and Easydiscuss.

For you to achieve this, you can use Easysocial for your login provider -> http://take.ms/2KJul(EasyDicscuss) and http://take.ms/Ky5am(Easyblog).

Maybe i can have your permission to setup this for you so that you can check how it is for your site.

Please advice.

Hi Abdul, yes please. Having one tool only for registration makes sense, I would like to try it out with EasySocial. Would be fine, if you can set it up. Login credentials are already in my profile. Is that reversible, or would be all user data be migrated to EasySocial forever?
Thanks, Alex

Hi there,

I have changed them accordingly and it should use Easysocial for all of your components. Please give it a check and see how it goes.

Thanks Abdul, but it appears, all information the users already entered in their EasyDiscuss profile, including profile pictures are gone now?

Can the profile info be imported? Otherwise users will kill me I think...

Hi, although that user images are there again, it seems in the Forum (EasyDiscuss), it is still showing the EasySocial profile, if I click on "Edit my Profile".

If I click on other´s profiles, then it is showing the EasyDiscuss profile.

Hi - also the main menu INBOX of EasyDiscuss is not working anymore:

Oops... Page Not Found!
We're sorry, but the page you were looking for doesn't exist.

Tried to set up a new main menu for EasyDiscuss INBOX, but with same results.

Hi there,

I have reverted them again as it not possible to achieved this based on your current requirement currently. You need to use Joomla instead for you current login and etc for your site. I am not aware that you already utilizes your easydiscuss now.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks for reverting everything to normal.

Too sad that it is not possible at the moment to import user profile data from EasyDiscuss to EasySocial, as I liked very much the registration window, you have set up based on EasySocial.

Any chance for the near future that you will make kind of migration tool for that?

Thx

Hey Alex,

That is a good idea with the ability to migrate profile pictures from EasyDiscuss into EasySocial. I will log this into our issue tracker and see if we are able to push this in the next minor release.

Thanks Mark, but would also be great, if you could migrate other profile info from EasyDiscuss as well, like:

Signature field
Description field

Or fields, which already exist in EasySocial, like:
Social Profile
Profile URL

Cheers
