Hm, if your image source is small, then the image would be stretched which would eventually look ugly and pixelated.

if its small i would like it to be in the center.

Unfortunately it is not possible to center the image because there is no way to know if the image is smaller than the size of your stream (as it would be dependent on your Joomla template)
