I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holiday for us here.

It seems like that was not possible to ask event author to change the event title if during the moderation in current system. I will log this issue in the tracker and see if we can improve this in the future release version.

Yes it is the same.

What's the difference between the state "pending approval" and the state "unpublished" ?

As for unpublished, the events already approved by admin but the user doesn't want to show those event yet.
As for pending approval, the event created waiting for admin approval first before can be publish.
