You can simply disable the article update stream by setting in the backend:
1. Click Application>Article: https://www.screencast.com/t/GqhckQfzFU4

That's strange. The settings I had are the same as your screen shot. It wasn't until I also disabled 'Stream Filter' and 'Create Article' that they stopped showing up in the stream.

Can you enable back the option 'stream filter' and 'create article' and try to update an existing article.
Is it still generate the 'update article' stream?
