I am using the EasySocial Stream on my home page in the grid5 position at https://www.starch-smart.com and have recently added the YooRecipe Plugin for EasySocial. Ther plugin is named: plg_yoorecipe_easysocial

It appears to me that their plugin is posting to my personal social stream multiple times (as I am making edits) and also to the stream on the sites home page iin the EasySocial Stream module, in the grid5 position, every time that I modify one of the YooRecipe recipes. What I am wondering if this is a problem with their plug-in. It probably is?

I will ask them to look at it but I wanted you to be aware of it too. I wonder if maybe you have options somewhere to determine only to post the original creation and not changes.
hey sean,
as there's no built-in support for yoo_receipe from our side the stream generation / handling for yoo_receipe is done at their end. so you might want to ask directly over there if this can be altered as I'm pretty sure they know their own products best and can help you out

Sean, we've connected before over at YooRecipe and I'm glad to see you're also benefiting from their recent integration efforts Thanks for your efforts it benefits everyone, like me, who uses their component. I don't plan on upgrading until another week or so but will get on it soon. Meanwhile wanted to say your sight looks great (and reminds me how important diet is for health)!

Thank you Eileen,

I think today I have reported enough bugs that Sylvain will want to run the other way! :-) But, they should all be reasonably easy to fix and then the YooRecipe EasySocial plugin should become really ready for prime time! :-) And after that hopefully he will attack the USDA nutritional database for us. :-)

If you really want to get a good introduction to diet and health I suggest you watch the movie "Forks Over Knives". :-) Then play around at our http://www.DrCarney.com site. I know you joined our https://www.Starch-Smart.com site previously. If you find some time please do ask some questions in the Discussion Forum and make some comments on the blogs. We are off to a slow start and anything you do like that really encourages us! And, it makes us look like a going concern. :-)

It is exciting helping my wife because other Physicians are not seeing diseases become reversed like we see. We know it works and that peoples lives improve and that motivates us to keep going. And, it keeps me busy on the web too!

I am grateful for YooRecipe and Super Grateful for StackIdeas. They are the best! And, I have to say that I am also a huge fan of JoomlaBamboo.

Hi Sean,

If you don't mind me asking how was your site? How's the rate of people signing up? I'm just curious

Thanks,

Jackson

Jackson,
My site is launched. I launched it at the end of April. So far I have only attracted 54 users. Part of my problem might be that I still have a slow site. I keep tweaking it. I am about to play with JotCache and see if I can fix my other major problem with the site which is that I am caching object for too long so the NEW content like a new user or a new comment does not show up for everybody right away. That also can't be helping my site popularity. So, a bit to work through still. The site is at https://www.starch-smart.com

Hey Sean & Eileen,
Whats your verdict on Yoo Recipe, I just heard about it now via this thread, and think it could be very interesting for my site. How is front end editing, is it easy for my members to add recipes? how is the ES Integration, is it done well?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I am glad I decided on YooRecipe as I do not see anything better out there for recipes in Joomla. Once you have been spoiled by StackIdeas it is hard to be really excited about anybody elses interface. But, you can edit files from the front. It is not difficult. It will probably need some css tweaking. Fortunately the lead developer for YooRecipe is REALLY helpful. I would recommend it. Their integration with EasySocial was just launched. I used it and submitted a handful of bug tickets. I expect them to be fixed in the next couple of day and would not be surprised if he fixes them this evening.

So you think it is better than YooTheme's Zoo for recipes? Have you compared the two?

I do not know about zoo for recipes. But YooThemes seems to be a good company. I would love to hear from people that have made comparisons for sure.

@Jannik, I am very pleased with the responsiveness of YooRecipe's lead developer/owner but understand, without question, StackIdeas sets the customer service bar at the very top. YooRecipe has a forum which receives regular attention for bugs, feature requests, etc. Since the beginning of this year there have been significant advances as they brought in some additional staff to help roll-out new changes. Provide specific and detailed diagnostic information to their attention when reporting problems helps ensure speedy responses to problem reports.

I have only used the demo Zoo "Cookbook" app. Zoo is a CCK that allows you to create a custom or extend the sample Cookbook app to match your imagination. Your choice depends, in part, on why/how you want to use recipes in your site. For me, I chose YooRecipe because I didn't want to use my limited time creating features I already found in YooRecipe, such as: 1) the ingredients list automagically resets the quantity of ingredients as the website visitor may adjust the # of servings for the dish, a nice feature you will find in the most popular recipe site; 2) their promise to integrate with ES (they have done and are fine-tuning) and integrate with the USDA food database; 3) Meal Planner; 4) Shopping Lists (QR to mobile phone); 5) good use of Joomla ACL.

BTW, if your site is planning recipes, and you too would find value in using YooRecipe to provide a very competitive footing to mobile apps that have sprung up which provide integration with the FREE USDA database on 8,463 food items and up to 150 food components, put your sales inquiry to them at their forum.

I did not try Zoo because the feature list was sparse and I was not finding glowing reviews like I found with YooRecipe.
