Hi,

I want to create a discount that provides free subscription for 2 months on first registration. It isn't clear how to do this.

In a previous post it was suggested I use Extend subscription as discount but that doesn't work for new signups. Is there a way of creating a discount that starts from a new sign up and provides free access for 2 months? May there is a plugin I need to install?
Hi Mel,

EDITED: The default plan app does not work with the latest PayPlans version. So use the profile based plan app instead of the default plan app(http://take.ms/rng1I).

Then in the profile based plan app instance, set the user group of newly registrered users and the plan to assign to them.

In the plan that you selected, you can set the recur+1 trial expiration type and specify the trial to 0 and expires in 2 months(http://take.ms/0QJBl).

Hi Raymond,

thanks for responding. I just cannot seem to get this to work. When I select the Profile Based Plan I don't see any recurring options. Also, would this have to be created for individual profile types or can one discount work for 2 or more? I only ask because it asks to set the User Type and SIgnup Plan and in my scenario I have 2 of these that need the 3 month discount (I wanted to use 1 code for both)

I am getting quite confused with it

Hey Mel,

I apologize for the confusion. I re-examined your case and it looks like you do not need to create an app instance to achieve this.

What you have to do is to head to the PayPlans-ProfileBasedPlan plugin and set the plan for new sign-ups there(http://take.ms/2dVZu). This configuration would basically apply the plan to all user that signs up, regardless of profile types.

The recurring and trial type as I mentioned earlier with this screenshot(http://take.ms/0QJBl) is actually configured in the plans themselves(http://take.ms/DLHkR).

EDIT: I have to correct my statement from before. I have confirmed that the recurring plans do not work with the ProfileBasedPlan plugin, so when assigning a plan to the plugin, use a plan that has fixed expiration type(http://take.ms/Cj2uU)

Hi,

I was setting it up the wrong way. I have now set it up correctly - here is the answer:
