Hm, it's not possible to assign an event into a group from the event creation page. This is mainly due to the permissions that is set within the respective group.

For instance, if your group only allow group creators to create events, then this would allow normal members to bypass these restrictions.

thank you for your answer. I thought about and think it would be an important feature to bind events after creation to existing page or groups, because not evverybody goes to the group for adding an event and some people are adding several events for different groups and pages an have to navigate to other pages or groups for each event, they add.

Wouldnt ist be possible to have a popup with pages and groups regarding the specific acl?

You do have a point as to the importance and potential of this feature. For now, I think it would be best to post a feature request for this at the feature request category.

This can allow us to gauge the demand of the feature and gather ideas from other users with regards to how they like this feature to work.

Nevertheless, this is definitely a huge feature that is going to take time to implement if we go ahead with it so there are no promises for now.

thank you for the answer. I would say the feature is, that you can already add an event, that is related to a page or group. This is a great feature, because it can work like as if you have venues for the events to choose Unfortunately it is not the straight forward way to do so, because it is not adding an event and then choose group say location, but for each event you have to go first to specific group for adding an event to it. It is just the intuitive way, users are used to from their calendars to add an event and then choose the location. So please tell me short, if you agree, otherwise i will open an feature request

I completely agree with your thoughts if you are using groups as a venue. Not everyone uses groups as a venue and this is where it starts to not make much sense

Assuming this, Joomla is an open source group where collaborators communicate and it was started by another user. If you decide to create an event with the title of "Kill Joomla" and associate it with that group, then the group owners and members would be furious.

Perhaps one of the possibility that I could think is the creation of a new custom field for events where it could be associated with one of the groups that you create. So people who uses group as venues like yourself can benefit out of it and people who don't, just don't use it.

I still think this is a pretty niche functionality but yeah, that is just my opinion as others might agree with you too! Therefore, posting them in the feature requests section makes more sense as Raymond mentioned, it's much easier for us to gauge if it makes sense to add such functionality.

Hm, I don't think there is any threads about assigning events to the group when you create events but I recall seeing venues though.
