Is it possible to assign one module to one easydiscuss category page and assign a different module to a different category page? My first try was to create a menu item for each category layout and assign my modules to these menu items but so far its not working. maybe my issue is tied back to sef. not really sure.
Hello Adam,

The only way around this is for you to create a menu item which links to a category in EasyDiscuss and configure the modules to appear on this menu. Joomla module associations are based on the menu and not based on the extension category

Hi Mark. I believe your answer reflects my setup however im not seeing the modules. As i mentioned, I think there is an issue with sef because the menu items i setup dont have an alias that matches the easydicuss sef urls. Some how I need these to match to work properly.

..instead of linking the menu item to the easydicuss category, maybe i should link the menu item to the actual URL. The only thing here is that if the sef url ever changes than i have to manual change the menu item for every category every time.

Hello Adam,

Joomla displays the module based on the current active menu regardless of the SEF URL. For instance, if you created a menu called "Hello", then configured the login module to only appear when user accesses the "Hello" menu, then this module would only appear when you are accessing the "Hello" menu.

i noticed that the alias of the menu item uses hyphens but when joomla creates sef urls it uses slashes. You mentioned the sef url doesnt matter but when i manually type in the url with hyphens, the module will display but when i use the native easydicuss category link, the module wont display. Therefore my menu item is not displaying the same page as easydicuss.

What do you think im doing wrong?

Hello Adam,

Perhaps you can provide us with joomla backend and FTP access so we can quickly figured out what went wrong with the module setting?

Please advise.

im also noticing a short bounce on the easydiscuss page on each page load. as if the site has a collapsing module position at the top. strange.

Hello Adam,

I've helped you to change the SEO behaviour of easydiscuss from default to menu item determined by easydiscuss.

The SEO will now respecting with each easydiscuss category menu items thus the module will be displayed properly for specific category that you have specified.
