Actually this app has been depreciated in the latest version. It is only available in 3.x version. User details/preferences options has been added in the PayPlans core under User > Custom Details section. Thanks for getting back to us. Following are the guide to help you setting up your user custom details.

1. Navigate to PayPlans > Users > Custom Details > (Click on add new button).
2. Copy the parameters mentioned in the documentation and paste it in the parameters field section. You may change it according your needs. Once ready, save it.
3. Next, navigate to PayPlans > Settings > General > Users and set Allow Users to Edit Custom Details to on. This will render the custom fields in the edit user preference.

Sounds good, but I would like to have some control on layout
For example user see dashboard like on attached screen
Ideally its would be to be able create own dasboard and place elements based on template unique module positions

If I'm understand your inquiry correctly, you want to place the user custom fields onto another place/position. I am sorry as it is not possible. You'll need to create a module for the custom fields and only then you're able to place it anywhere on your site based on template position.
