how to add EB blocks when adding a post through ES
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Hm, may i know what do you mean by Easyblog blocks?

Is it you mean you would like to show a stream item on the Easysocial user dashboard page when someone published a new blog post on the site?

Hey Arlex!
No worries.

What I mean is if i go to my ES profile and click the add blog link on the top menu. I am unable to add anything but just text.

There is no insert block option to add photos and the like.

categories and blogs show an add blog button
need to customize the profile and community pages. Can u recommend a plugin or advise?

Thanks Arlex !!

Oh, thanks for your screenshot, I already know where you referring to.

Actually it is correct behavior currently, the story form shouldn't allow user to add block, image and those other thing is because the whole purpose of this is to allow user easier to submit their quick blog post through Easysocial story form, so currently that is no way to inject those add block/image option into this story form.

What do you think if add a composer page URL link at here http://take.ms/nbM9i so if the user who want to compose a new blog post using those feature like add those block, they can able to click on this button, it will redirect to the composer page, then user can able to add block/image there.

ok so a blog post made here, still goes into EB, but with no images?
I don't understand the purpose of that.

It would make sense that integrating the two would do just that. A blog made from ES or EB should be the same.
That is just going to confuse people.

We would like members once they sign in to be able to add a blog from anywhere.
preferably if they are in a particular category, it will default to that category.

To confirm, regular EB blog posts will also show on the ES stream?

Yes, when you made a blog post through the Easysocial story form, it will store into Easyblog as well because it integrated as long as you have install the blog app in Easysocial.

In other word, when you submit a new blog post from Easyblog composer page, it will generate a stream item into Easysocial.

but with no images?

If you referring this Easysocial story form (screenshot : http://take.ms/xB0he ), and yes it will not show any image is because there do not have allow user to upload the image into blog content.

Unless you point user to create blog post from the composer page (screenshot : http://take.ms/pE3li ) if they would like to write very long blog content which include some of the image or block.

Yes a link/button to the EB composer age will help.

Ok, but I still don't understand why that would be the case.

Why is it different in ES?
Why would you want to make a blog post without images?
Which would actually mess up EB and EB modules, by having blogs without images.
How can we make it so you can add a full blog post in ES?

Also very interested in the new ES Native App.
I'll have to read more about what it can do.
Does it include EB access on the phone or just ES?
Will it be possible to expand the app to include other parts of our website that are not part of ES?
I.e. Joomla articles, SobiPro

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I did add a composer link from the story blog form http://take.ms/UaVxb . This is the file I modified /public_html/media/com_easysocial/apps/user/blog/themes/default/story/panel.form.php

Ok, but I still don't understand why that would be the case.

The initially goal we made it this way is because we would like to let user easier to share their blog post browse from the mobile phone, because the mobile screen is not big as desktop.

But it would be good ideas if allow user to upload blog cover image from the story form, we will see if we can implement this in the future version.

And I also believe most of the user also dislike to use phone to write their long blog post because the screen is too small and difficult to re-format the text and other thing as well.

If you do some comparison when you typing speed from your mobile phone and desktop keyboard, it will be faster when you type from the desktop keyboard.

Perhaps you can start a new thread on our forum regarding this different question.

I understand your point, and yes people typically prefer to do long blogs on their computer. I hate typing on my phone.
But the reality is for the adventure blogger and traveller, it is the experience that they want to share in real time. The best adventure blogs capture the "moment", as it cannot be recreated once your back at home the next day.

Just look at the growth of face time.
Most of them are also on the road and have no access to a computer.
...Just some food for thought.

Thank you for the composer link. It works well. But without at least a possibility to add a cover photo, not much good for us. Considering we are strict on who and what can be blogged, and a quick paragraph without any images, we do not consider a blog, but a stream post, and will not be approved for our site anyway.

Our blogs need to have a consistency of quality and limiting the blog to text, does not meet our criteria.

So, I haven't tested it, ...can the blog composer be accessed on a cell phone, to create a blog with images?
Can I change the current blog menu link and name

Would it not be possible to set a template, that they cannot change for the blog in ES? They do not need to be able to add or delete blocks?

Other than that, I assume I can find how to just hide that menu link and put a button in the sidebar in documentation?

Thanks Arlex for all your time!

Unfortunately currently that is no easier way to allow user to upload post cover from the Easysocial story form.

Yes, the composer page can support for the mobile view as well.

And you can create your own post template from your site backend > Easyblog > Posts > Templates > click New > after you finish design your post template then put your name and save it. (save it as global template so everyone can use this template).

After that you can unpublished other existing template (screenshot : http://take.ms/sC55Y) , so it will render your custom post template as default, so user do not need to click and drag those new block during composing blog post.

Do you mean you want to modify these both link ? http://take.ms/ygS2s
