Is there a way to add a Group Admin to a Group from any of the Group Members?
Yep, you can click on the "Members" listing on the left and in each member, there will be a dropdown that you can promote the group user to be a group admin

So no restrictions? They can be destructive and delete any topics/posts?

Hoping there is some way to restrict. Don't want any takeover. Just in case.

Mark, hahaha Peter I'm not laughing at you it just crack me up LOL when I first read it, then Mark said what I was thinking.

Mark, I think what Peter is saying or suggesting is a level of Group Admin, that is I think a good idea too.

Mark, I got it! I have to login as the Owner of the group to see the Dropdown. Can I suggest to add that rights to the Site Admin as well by default? I mean a site admin able to see the dropdown?

Thanks!

Ah, okay I get what you mean. Super admin should be allowed to see the dropdown too. Perhaps in the future we could have a more sophisticated access control within the groups but it's going to be very tedious though

Yes, you got it right.

One step at a time I'm just exploring what you guys did with the Theme config file and I think that is a cool idea. If I'm understanding it right, putting the template configuration in a text file means an endless possibility of control.

Again kudos to you and your team, you're the best!

Just a thought ... without making it tedious and complicated, I think there should be two types for group control. One for the owner of the group (full control that already exist) and another one for anyone that get added as "moderator" to help out with the group. Maybe "moderator" get permission to add news and such but can't delete but only hide. Owners need help with busy groups.

Nice idea Peter

Checksum what do you mean we're thinking too much like Facebook? if we don't think about ACL then we would just use Jomsocial that does not have these controls. Things like this makes Easysocial a flexible solution to anybody's needs. I for one have needs for it

Hi Appweb,
On Facebook, after you create a page, you can add your friend as a moderator or admin, and admins have more power.

Now that you mentioned ACL, it makes sense, make use of joomla built in ACL, I agree.

Thanks AppWeb - it triggered an alert once I found out anyone becoming an admin has the same power.

Definitely one thing to disable when group is being used until a better solution is in place. Would hate to see disgruntled members wreck a community or even for anyone to try out their new power.
