My client has been having problems with people getting emails notifications when they are invited to join a group. I set up a staged site and I think I found the cause and solution. I would like to explain my understanding so that you can confirm or correct me before I relay this to the client...

When users are invited to a group, the system creates a record in #__social_mailer for each person invited to a group. Emails are not sent out until another event triggers it - either the EasySocial cron job or a page load. This is so that the system can throttle the number of emails sent out upon any given triggering event. If neither the cron job is set up, nor the send emails on page load is turned on, then the records will keep accruing who is to be notified, yet no email will go out for an invitation to joint a group.

Is my understanding correct?

In my testing, without a cron job and without the on page load feature turned on, I did receive an email about creating a group and another when I was approved. Those I invited could did not receive an email informing them of the invitation until I turned on the feature send emails on page load. Again... is all of that consistent to what I should be expecting?

My client had lost confidence in EasySocial being reliable in sending email notifications. I think I found the problem and the solution, but I ask so you can assure me - or correct my understanding as to how this works.
Hi there,

Yes it is true. But we do have which emails to prioritize first and which not as you can see here http://take.ms/XQsmA. Those emails with high priority, they will sent out without cronjobs/on page load. It will always sent out after your done your task.

So right now, for group creation and approval, those emails are set as high priority that is immediate(black flag) as you can refer codes at this path .../administrator/components/com_easysocial/models/groups.php.

Hope this helps
