On the following page on your site: http://stackideas.com/easysocial#feature-conversations you show conversations instant private messaging as an option. And everything appears kind of like a chat system in it's functionality.

Is there some special configurations I need to set to make the conversations work like this? Currently if I only see the "start a conversation" when I click on "Send a message" to a friend.

I'm using ES 1.3.28.
Hey Dan,

Click on the "Conversations" from the dropdown menu on the toolbar to view a list of your conversations

The way that is displayed on http://stackideas.com/easysocial#feature-conversations is misleading then....because you make it appear to be a chat like interface with immediate interaction with friends. There is even mention of "Group Chat". I don't see any Chat-like functionality.

This is simply sending a message to another user.

Hey Dan,

It does state that it is "Built in private messaging". Perhaps we should reword from "Group Chat" to "Group Messaging". You can actually add multiple recipients on your message when you compose a new message.

Sorry to jump in on this, but I was going to ask the same question a while back.
On the link Dan shared (http://stackideas.com/easysocial#feature-conversations) it has a display of an animated window showing a conversation that updates in real-time and while it does look similar to what is found in EasySocial, the installed version of ES does not include real-time chat at all. The page must be reloaded to see any new conversation items.

I would have to agree with Dan that the advertisement of ES conversations is very different from what you actually get.
Do you plan to make ES conversations work like they are advertised in an upcoming version of ES (e.g. with real-time chat)?

On a side note, are you advertising that the conversations work like that if you use an integrated app like ones found here: http://stackideas.com/apps/communication ?

Thanks for your responses Mark.

Hey there,

I am sorry for the confusions here. We are actually re-working on our features page to avoid such confusions in the future. The only reason that we did it that way is simply because we wanted to show more interactivity on a feature page rather than just a stall image.
