I am trying to set up an EasySocial site (localhost - LH) and have been going back and forth between the demo site and my own site.

I have appended the url with /?tp=1 and viewed the positions on the demo site, but when I try and place a module in the same position on my LH site it is not available. ie. I would like to place a Pages Module in position es-pages-sidebar-top... but there is only a position for sidebar-top for the dashboard and users.

I am using the Breeze Theme and the Fluent template.
Hi Dan,

If you take a look at this Fluent demo page, the position can be found on the sidebar module.

Therefore, you have to first publish and assign the EasySocial Sidebar module on Fluent's left position. Once the sidebar shows on the page, you can assign other modules to the es-pages-sidebar-top position.

Thanks Raymond
I was thinking that I had to use only module positions from the Fluent template, but your image, and the linked demo site, suggests that I should be using both?
I have been through a great deal of the SI ES documentation but it is not clear with regards to step by step procedures for configurations.

ie. I set up the ES Sidebar Module to the Left position (Fluent), then set up an album module using es-photos-sidebar-top (typed it in as it did not exist in the list) but nothing shows up on the Photos page. I have assigned the album modules to only Pages, Photos and Events. I am confused as to how the modules would show up in the Events page if it has ben assigned the es-photos-sidebar-top position?

In the last few days I recall seeing a complete list of the positions on the SI site and have spent the last few hours going through the documentation again trying to find it. Please provide a link for the complete list of positions for both the Fluent template and any of the themes.

Edit: Just note: I just noticed that the Photos page, unlike the other pages, does not go by the same name! So I have changed the position of the EasySocial Albums to es-albums-sidebar-top ... but it still does not show up.
The only place "photo albums" and "Introduction" show up are on the Profile page. I included two screenshots of the modules I have set up so far (or that were previously set)... but am not sure if they got posted?

Hey Dan,
I was thinking that I had to use only module positions from the Fluent template, but your image, and the linked demo site, suggests that I should be using both?
That is correct.
I am confused as to how the modules would show up in the Events page if it has ben assigned the es-photos-sidebar-top position?
If you configure the module to use es-photos-sidebar-top position but it does not exist on the events page, then the module will not show. To display the module on different position on different pages, you have to create multiple modules(in your example, multiple albums module), since one module can only be assigned to one module position.
Please provide a link for the complete list of positions for both the Fluent template and any of the themes.
The best way to know what positions displays on the page is by using the ?tp=1 parameter. You can view Fluent default positions in the template's layout builder(attached).
So I have changed the position of the EasySocial Albums to es-albums-sidebar-top ... but it still does not show up.
Where are you assigning the module? albums listing, or single albums page? The es-albums-sidebar-top position is for the single albums page, whereas es-albums-all-sidebar-top is for the albums listing.

If you provide us your site's backend access, we will be able to understand your configuration better.

Thanks again for the reply Raymond. I'm on the other side of the world (almost midnight here) but am glad I caught your response tonight.
I truthfully didn't know what the template layout builder was but it has answered a number of questions I had coming (like, changing the logo, changing the foot info at the bottom etc.)
I am developing this site using MAMP on my home computer, and will transfer to the current web host for my main site once it is functional so I won't be able to provide you with a backend. I don't have the greatest of hissed or bandwidth and it would be impossible to develop the site online. If there are some screen shots I can post that would help please lmk and I'll see what I can do.

So if I'm reading your response correctly I will need to develop near identical modules (ie. Photo55 Albums) for each different page I want it to appear in? Each one would have to be names something different? That will be confusing for the end user won't it?

Which of the modules includes the button to Create an Album? Once I get the Photos page working I'm sure the rest will all fall in line and be much easier to complete, but this is rather confusing without a roadmap and/or video(s) showing how to set up ES. Please bear with me while I learn on the go. There don't seem to be any good online StackIdeas video tutorials to work through. I have suggested some topics this past week to Mark and have my fingers crossed.

You have to create separate modules only if you are trying to assign different module positions, or having different configuration. The system allows you to have multiple modules with the same title. Not really sure what is confusing for the end user.
Which of the modules includes the button to Create an Album?
Only the sidebar module shows this button, but it only shows on albums listing and single album page.

HI Raymond
I've spent the greater part of the day trying to get my Group page to emulate the Demo Group Page. I figured that would be as easy a place as any to start. When I enter /?tp=1 on both of these setups the Positions are very different. Is this because I am using Fluent? I would rather the site look like the Demo site as I believe it would be much easier for my club to navigate.

I have tried several of the themes and prefer either Breeze or Wireframe as the lettering is darker and would be easier for the club demographics to handle.

When I asked for a guide to using EasySocial I was hoping for something along the lines of a basic step by step. My experience with Joomla, beyond several online courses, is putting together my main site using YooTheme. Because they provide a fully functional demo download with which we can experiment, and/or use as as a template to get started it was possible to follow what they were doing.

What is missing here at SI is access to the Joomla Admin, to show me exactly how the Demo site was made. The demo online provides me with the Front End to play around with... and get me hooked. It also provides me with the Back End, but that is very limited in that it only has access to the EasySocial Component itself. There is no guideline that I can see that shows me the steps to be able to get a reasonably functional social site up and running let alone make modifications.

This is getting rather frustrating trying to piece together things without what I feel is a full set of instructions. Please see below for the newest screenshots of my setup and the Demo setup. I have included both user screens of both and "Positions" screenshots of both.

On the P55 site page I have eliminated the Search in the top-search position as it is a duplication of the one in the User toolbar. I tried to eliminate the other items other than the top logo but they were not to be found. The Social Icons are also redundant in the es-general-top position as is the top-dropdown item. I am confused as to why my Group shows up outside the block rather under the User Toolbar. Is this because I am using the Fluent template?

And I haven't even started to integrate ED, EB and Komento into the site yet!

Again, I would like to capture the look and feel of the Demo setup. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Dan,

The positions look different because EasySocial demo is not using Fluent template. To view EasySocial under Fluent template, you need to look at this site: http://fluent.stackideas.com/index.php

When you first install Fluent template, most of the layout should be pretty similar to Fluent's demo. But, if you want to configure the site to have a different layout, eg http://easysocial.stackideas.com/, then you have to spend time to work towards that.
I tried to eliminate the other items other than the top logo but they were not to be found.
By other items, do you mean the ones under 'top-notification' and 'top-dropdown'? They are modules which you can unpublish from the modules section in the backend if you do not want to show them.
I am confused as to why my Group shows up outside the block rather under the User Toolbar. Is this because I am using the Fluent template?
It's not showing under the user toolbar because based on your screenshot, you assigned the module to the position 'left'.

By looking at ?tp=1, you can already see that the 'left' position is a position that is not under the toolbar. With this in mind, you then have to change the module's position accordingly. Looking at the screenshot, the next position you should try to assign is the 'es-dashboard-aside' position.

By the way, this es-dashboard-aside position is only available on the dashboard(http://easysocial.stackideas.com/?tp=1). On EasySocial demo screenshot, you are looking at the 'Groups' page, which is why the position listed is different.
