Normal users wouldn't be able to do that but you could, just enter language strings like COM_ES_SOMETITLE and add this into your translations file

I add some variables for easyblog categories, index.php/zh/blog/categories this url display the translation well, but when I start to post a new blog, the subcategories still display the variables
COM_EASYBLOG_CATEGORY_CHINA_LIVING
COM_EASYBLOG_CATEGORY_CHINA_STUDYING
COM_EASYBLOG_CATEGORY_CHINA_TRAVELING
COM_EASYBLOG_CATEGORY_CHINA_WORKING

it seems that the editor can not display subcategory variables

Alright John. I'm able to replicate this subcategory translation issue in EB and ED's composer.

the stream also display the variable name rather than the translated name it should be
