Hi folks,

We're getting lots of new users and lots of content on our site. The bad news is that it's making the site HUGE. It's mostly photos taking up the space, I think. Any tips for keeping the site size down? For example, can I safely delete original photo files once they're processed?

Thank you,

James
It was a feature request and it wasn't added yet. Oh cool, never tried inmotion but perhaps you could try to deal with them to get a larger additional spare storage? Storage is pretty cheap these days and it's kinda a no brainer to sacrifice quality over storage space.

I already have the quality set to 60% and upload limit set to 4mb in photo settings.

Hello James,

I don't think you would want to delete the original images because we have lots of plans in the future to manipulate original images. Deleting it would also cause other issues as well. Which hosting are you currently on? If you are on rackspace, you could attach a cheap storage to different folder and you can then relocate those images into these other folders.

Thanks, Mark. I'm moving to InMotion tomorrow. I'll see what they suggest. I saw this thread which addresses many image storage issues: http://stackideas.com/forums/size-of-storage-needed. Is there a resize option available in the backend (i.e. set max size of image)? Or was that just a feature request?

Thanks again,

James
