I am trying to figure out how I might be able to load a dozen or so small avatars that people could use as their default avatars. Where do I upload them and what size should they be? Seems I must be missing something very basic but so far I have NOT figured this out.

Sean
Hello Sean,

You can actually upload a set of default avatars when you edit a profile at the back end of EasySocial. It's available under the Avatars tab as you can see here, http://screencast.com/t/MI9gSTB7N

Thank you. That helps. Am I able to upload a set of avatars for one profile and also have the other profiles use the same set or to use the same avatars would I have to upload them each time to the various profiles.

also, something I am not understanding yet is about the cronjob for Amazon S3. Will the avatars be temporarily stored on my server when I upload them and then eventually removed from my server once they get uploaded via the cronjob?

And, CloudAccess is asking me how often we should run the cronjob. is this something you run every five minutes or so?

Thanks, Sean

You need to re-upload them for each profiles Yes, it will be uploaded on your server temporarily and when the cronjob kicks in, it uploads to the Amazon server.

Ideally, it should execute every 2 minutes (If the site is not too busy). If it is a very busy site, set it to 5 minutes.

Sorry one more question on the Avatars. What size do you recommend we upload. I am assuming that the system will generate various sizes of Avatars so I would probably want to upload the largest size. I have a bunch of files I want to convert to Avatars. For now I will create larger square images and then will create them in the size you suggest for the largest image and upload them.

Thank you Mark,

I did assume that I would upload a larger file and then the system would duplicate the file into smaller versions. What I was wondering is what are the default sizes so that I would know the largest size that would be created. So, for example if the largest size was 240 pixels then I would create my uploaded files as 240 pixels rather than a smaller size.

Basically I am thinking to avoid uploading very large files if I do not need to. I have not found these settings for the avatar sizes but am sure they are somewhere. I will keep looking.

Awesome. Thank you very much. I just guessed the other day and uploaded a bunch that were actually 200x200 so I expect your system will resize them for me. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
