As a beginner, I'm going to build a good-looking blog website, but want the easiest way to build. I'm looking for a user-friendly CMS to create the main structure of my site. Please have a look at: http://www.threehosts.com/ratings/wordpress-vs-joomla-vs-drupal.html. As you can see they have provided a collection of websites created with WP, Drupal and Joomla. How can I understand if these websites are really built with the mentioned software? And how can I know if they have used any template for their sites or they have only used the mentioned CMS? Because some of these websites look really great and professional and due to I'm on a tight budget I don't want to pay for any template or theme.
@Emad, there is indeed much you can learn by understanding what technology others are using to build their websites. There are many resources you can find from plugins and extensions for browsers to sites specifically made to do this kind of thing. For example, you want to learn more about the site you found that compares CMS systems? Click on this link (they apparently don't use any of the CMS in their comparison for their own site but use a so-called "agile information management system" called Endeca). You can enter any site there you like and find out more. It is useful once you have selected a CMS that meets your needs and find sites that appear to meet your expectations, funnel them through this resource and you will learn insights into how you can achieve various goals for your own site.

I'm not sure exactly what your saying here apart from you want to build a fantastic looking website with standard templates?

To make a site look good its all about the templates unless you know how to use the standard ones and essentially build your own new template from them if that makes any sense to you.

As for knowing if a particular site is built from the cms mentioned, I think its unlikely a company would promote themselves and mislead a person as to what it was actually built with, that defeats the object of promoting the product in the first place doesn't it?

hope this helps

Hi Jason,
No, I don't want to pay for any template to promote my blog. I want to use standard features of a cms to create my blog. I'm uncertain between Joomla and WP. I think EeasyBlog may be what I should choose. But I'm not sure if I can set up a professional-looking blog site in Joomla without using any template or not? As I said before I'm on a tight budget.
Any comment or suggestion?

hello jason,
thanks for sharing.

hello emad,
when it comes to design in general it's a very personal thing. while one likes a design someone else absolutely doesn't. if you're on a tight budget the best recommendation I can give you is to do some good research on the available products so that when you made your final decision you can stick to it and don't have to change the whole system after some time because this then can get time consuming and causes additional costs.

for our products you can have a closer look at our demo site http://stackideas.com/demo

hope that helps and have a nice day

Hello again, as far as blogging goes I personally cant wait to include easyblog as a function on my site as well as easydiscuss.

Like you I am on a tight budget as well so am having to do the best I can with what I can afford, I spent a lot of time looking to find a paid template themes but what I found out was that there is a whole lot of free stuff out there which is fine, especially as a starting point and completely free.

Currently I am using joomla art purity 3 which is a free template which has in built styles for Stackideas products.

I can't recall off the top of my head but I'm fairly sure easyblog and easydiscuss both have options for templates built in, so connect the great features with the great support and Stack ideas really is a great choice.

there is nothing worse then spending time trying to develop a site and having to start all over again because either the product was bad or the support was terrible.

Thats why I am now settled into developing my site using Stackideas products because I have faith in them and the support which thus far is second to none.
