It would be really nice if ES's login module had a option to display horizontally. Community Builder has had this feature for many years (they also have a compact option which uses less space). While CB's is pretty good, we could raise the bar even higher by maximizing space, making it look nice, and make it convenient for the user. PayPal's is an excellent example of a well designed horizontal login form. I attached a screen shot showing both the form and a less cluttered way of accessing the "forgot" options.

Using my test site I made sure that a horizontal login form looked quite nice (using CB's login form and made CSS edits with FireBug). Displaying horizontally is very important to me because I want to display the login form in the top header of the site on every page.
+1 horizontal option would be nice

Thanks Mark. I know you guys are busy, but I don't suppose it could be in a future release? For now I suppose I could have two buttons (login and register) that use separate pages to display them. But we all know this method is inconvenient.

Hi,

Try using this module from Bow themes.

Works perfect

That's not quite a horizontal login. Yes those are buttons that display horizontally, but I can create that myself using HTML and CSS.

In addition to it not being a horizontal login form, I tested that module in the past and noticed that it slows down the site page load time. It's not by much, but it was noticeable (anywhere between 1 second and 0.3 seconds).

HI,

Its not just html/css it also uses AJAX to load the reg/login for joomla.

I know, but the popup login was not what I was after. I assumed the screen shot you gave was to show a option to link to those pages in that fashion. A horizontal login requires less clicks and does not require ajax to load which in some cases is nice (especially with JS conflicts). The login menu's position is the same spot I plan on having the usermenu on which uses almost the same amount of space so that whether logged in or out it looks "similar".

Very nice! The current sign in and registration for ES, while nice, could use some styling up.

We'll probably create a different layout for the login module but our priority now is focusing on the main stuffs for 1.2 so that a beta can be delivered as soon as possible.

Hi Mark. Do you mean as part of the new 1.2 theme when it is in final release?

Hello Brandon,

Probably in the module rather than the extension

Having the horizontal mode for the login form to be applied to the module itself is exactly what we want!

Looks great Mark!. Is this the new theme and if so will it be keeping the same blue/white color scheme as now? Keep up the great work!

Awesome Mark! That looks great. I noticed the "remember me" is on it's own row making it flow away from the design in a sense. One method to combat this is to have the backend have a drop down option which would allow the admin to choose how to display the remember me option. I attached a screen shot with 4 options.

This would allow me as the admin to decide if I want the login to remember a user without displaying the remember checkbox.
