I have the "Compose Layout" menu item published. When I select this menu item on my homepage, it directs me to a login page first, then to a new post composer.

My goal is to completely hide this menu item from my homepage and access it via a special link like xyz.com/hiddenmenuitem/dfsgdfgdfg or something like that.

How can I do this?
Hi Urzh,

I am sorry for the late reply for this. As I understand that, you wanted hidden a menu on your homepage. You can try it by follow the steps http://www.joomlage.com/joomla-3-tutorials/how-to-create-a-hidden-menu-and-hidden-menu-item-in-joomla how its goes.
Please let us know if you required any further assistance .

Hi, I need to know how to do this for Joomla 2.5. Also, EasyBlog should really have this feature built in - or it should have something we can publish that is hidden to login to our backend...

Hey Urzh,

You can just create a link that links to http://site.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=composer&tmpl=component

You can't just create a menu for EasyBlog but don't have the menu show up. The only work around is as my colleague posted if you need to create a custom alias.

1. Create a hidden menu
2. Create a menu item that links to EasyBlog's composer screen.

Hi Mark, thanks - that's what I was looking for.

Since that link is a global default for all easyblog, it would be nice to append a secret key at the end so it could only be accessed by someone who knew the secret key. There's a plugin that similarly works the same way to mask Joomla Backend (adminexhile). I think this would add a great layer of security for someone looking to hide the link entirely.
