Hi, is it possible to restrict files in conversations, groups and pages only to special users?
1. So it shows only the contacts which are already in my contact list? Same in groups?

If you didn't enable this setting "Allow Messaging Non Friends" (screenshot : http://take.ms/08UhW ) , the contact list only showing your friend and it doesn't related with the group member.

2. And its a realtime chat?

Yes.

3. What about the server ressources?

It will use a lot of server resource, because it will send a request to your server to check whether got any new message at this moment or not at every few seconds.

If your server do not have restrict number of request per day, then should be fine.

Hey Dennis,

Do you mean you would like to restrict certain user unable to upload any media file/image through the conversation message, group/pages story form?

If yes, unfortunately that is not possible to control this at this point of time.

Regarding group/page, admin can use "stream/post permission" custom field to determine that which profile type user or certain user can able to post any story stream item on the group/page , but there do not have allow admin to restrict certain user do not have permission to upload file/photo under group/page .

Example:

Students should be able to upload a file (work) into a group (class) and only the teacher should be able to see it (correction).
Maybe other members should also be able to see this work (teamwork).

Yes, teacher must invite or accept.

Maybe best case is, that the teacher can send invitations only.

If that is the case, i think that is make sense to make this group type to "Invite-only" because this group admin (i assume admin is teacher) suppose to manually invite those student to join this group then you do not need to restrict anything from this part.

Yes, but what about if a student puts his work via file upload. Are other members of this group also able to see his work?

Based on your current requirement, that is not possible to achieve this in the group.
Because group doesn't have allow user to set stream privacy, the privacy only respect the group type (e.g. open, closed, invite-only type) as what group admin set, as long as that is group member, they can able to see everything inside the group.

But the non-member unable to see anything inside the group if the group type set to closed or invite-only.

What i can think of is, teacher have to post a stream item under the group newfeeds to ask everyone attach their assignment through the Easysocial build-in conversation personally, so only teacher can able to see their assignment.

If you feel the build-in conversation is not show like the live chat messenger, you can take a look our another product (Conversekit) on our demo site http://conversekit.stackideas.com/ , so those student can quickly to send their assignment to teacher through this way.

So actually a student can send a file directly through conversation, so that no other group members can see the file?
If so, what is the advantage with conversekit?

Yes, those group member shouldn't see it because student only send the file to teacher through the conversation personally.

I would said basically the functionality is the same as Easysocial build-in conversation, the different is the look and feel is much better than the build-in conversation, because a lot of user who like the live chat bar stay on the page, so when the user access other pages, they still can able to communicate with other user on the site.

So user do not need to always go back to the conversation page, actually you can try on our demo site http://conversekit.stackideas.com/ then compare with the Easysocial build-in conversation.

1. I want to allow users who are interested in attending events to contact the event providers through jreview listings- even without any "add to contact list". On the other way, the course provider should only be able to contact users, if they are in their contact list (Spam). If i set this to "enable" both sides are able to start conversations. What is the solution?

Sorry Dennis, I think I already get lost here.

First I thought that we are discussing about Easysocial group and how to prevent other user to see those uploaded file on the group.

Then suddenly you mention about the event and jreview stuff.

If i set this to "enable" both sides are able to start conversations.

If that is the case, then that is not possible to achieve this using conversation method.
And currently that is no other work around to prevent group member to see those member who upload their assignment file through the group story panel.
