Please advise,

I cannot access my website after attempting to upgrade from 3.9x to 3.9x.

I am able to now access the Joomla Admin area ... the template is a Rockettheme template and I do have access to cpanel.

Both the website and the EasyBlog section of the admin area is blank.

The site is uesegep.org ... what steps can you help me with?

PLEASE ADVISE ASAP!
hey Gregg,

I am sorry delay of this reply,

May i know how you update your Easyblog 3.9x?

Can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this?

*You can put the information in the optional information field below(SITE DETAILS). Don't worry about privacy. Only Support team can view the information.

Thanks you for getting back with me.

I was updating EB via the built in updater inside of EB

I will give you access, but what specifically do mean by "backend access" and "FTP"

Have never setup Joomla FTP ... need guidance.

Thanks you

You're welcome.

Oh, actually that was not work if you update 3.9x to 3.9x through Easyblog updater.

Perhaps you can provide us with your email address so I can send you the Easyblog 3.9 latest version installer so you can upload the zip file through in Joomla installer?

The backend access as you can go to your Easyblog updater page.
The FTP access you can create this account from your Cpanel, so we can connect with your FTP server and check your directory folder.

Hey Gregg,

Try temporary rename all the com_easyblog folder (to another name e.g. com_easyblog_bak) in
-> administrator/component/com_easyblog
-> component/com_easyblog
-> media/com_easyblog
-> media/foundry

I need to access your Joomla root folder.

Alex,

Renaming the folders has given us back URL access to both the website and the admin section. So far so good.

FTP details enclosed in "Site Details" -- if you have a problem logging in let me know.

What can I do next?

Hi Gregg,

I am able to access your backend just now but it seems like the provided user does not have access to joomla extension manager. After some time it seems like your joomla site is blocking our access to your site as you can see from my screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/OcDkEcoexbh . Perhaps there are some firewall mechanism on your server that blocked our ip address from accessing your site.

By the way I've sent easyblog version 3.9 installer to your email and you can just install it normally through joomla extension manager.

To Alex or Ezrul,

Installed the emailed file and everything seems to working now.

The FTP log showed that you all uploaded 97MB of files to the server.
What are the names of the files that were uploaded?
What folder were they uploaded to?

Hey Gregg,

Thanks for getting back to us that work fine.

The file will uploaded in this following location.
-> administrator/component/com_easyblog
-> component/com_easyblog
-> media/com_easyblog
-> media/foundry

Perhaps you can directly remove it what you renamed that com_easyblog_bak folder before as I mentioned above.

Alex,

Yes, I already removed the _bak files. 97MB seemed like a large amount of data. So, I wanted to see where any other files might be.

A couple of other questions:

1) When I tried to delete the Joomla User that I created for you, Joomla would not let me do it and was throwing errors. This happened as a result of the failed 3.9 upgrade. I was able to delete the user via the cPanel MyPHPAdmin and deleting the user from the SQL database directly. Here is the error that was written to log when I attempted to delete the user.

PHP Fatal error: Class 'EasyBlogHelper' not found in /home/*mysite*/plugins/user/easyblogusers/easyblogusers.php on line 139

2) What is the best way to upgrade from 3.9 to 5.x? Since the server has blocked both the 3.9 upgrade that I tried and blocked you from uploading your files, I want to make sure that a good upgrade happens.

Thanks

I believe this issue come out is mostly because when you trying to upgrade to Easyblog 5 then downgrade back to Easyblog 3.9
, perhaps you can temporary disable this `User - easyblog` plugin from your backend first.

2) What is the best way to upgrade from 3.9 to 5.x? Since the server has blocked both the 3.9 upgrade that I tried and blocked you from uploading your files, I want to make sure that a good upgrade happens.

The best way is first make sure you backup every data, then download the latest launcher installer from your dashboard http://stackideas.com/dashboard . After that upload the zip file through in Joomla backend installer.

Alex,

There might be a misunderstanding .. I never tried to upgrade to 5.x. I only tried to to upgrade from 3.9 to 3.9 from the updater built into EasyBlog admin panel and that is when the problems started.

Also, please see attached screenshot as it shows there are missing fields in the Extensions->Plugins. Looks like there is something else going on here.

Would you still provide the same advice? If yes, how does one disable the user from `User - easyblog` plugin from your backend first?so, please see attached screenshot as it shows there are missing fields in the Extensions->Plugins. Looks like there is something else going on here.

Hey Gregg,

I'm really sorry that misunderstand on your previous reply, you can ignore my previous answer.

Can you check this file is it exist on your site?
- JoomlaFolder/components/com_easyblog/helpers/helper.php

2) What is the best way to upgrade from 3.9 to 5.x? Since the server has blocked both the 3.9 upgrade that I tried and blocked you from uploading your files, I want to make sure that a good upgrade happens.

Yes, that Easyblog 3.9 updater is not working now.
The best way is upload the latest installer file through in your Joomla installer.
Because what my colleague send to you that was the latest version in Easyblog 3.9x.

By the way, I can't access your site for some reason.

Alex,

Yes, the helper.php file is there. Please find it attached.

Also, please remember that I created the Joomla user AFTER I had renamed the EasyBlog files with _bak.

Suggestions?

Also, in a previous post I told you that I deleted the user via the MySQL database.

Hey Gregg,

Perhaps you can consult with your Webhosting provider what is the reason I can't access your Joomla backend?

When I tried to delete the Joomla User that I created for you, Joomla would not let me do it and was throwing errors.

Can you test delete one of the Joomla user from backend, and see what error it show up? (make sure you have enable error_reporting to Maximum)

Alex,

I am not surprised that you cannot access the backend -- I already deleted the Joomla user and FTP access ... see quote below from earlier post.

QUOTE -- "1) When I tried to delete the Joomla User that I created for you, Joomla would not let me do it and was throwing errors. This happened as a result of the failed 3.9 upgrade. I was able to delete the user via the cPanel MyPHPAdmin and deleting the user from the SQL database directly."

Alex, I just created and deleted a new user and everything work as expected. No errors. I am thinking that it was because I added the AlexWong user after the files/folders were amended with _bak.

One last question ... your earlier post said to download and use the launcher to upgrade to 5.x. One of the forum posts says to only upgrade to 5.x by uninstalling 3.9 and reinstalling 5.x from a fresh install.

Which method is correct?

Thanks

Hey Gregg,

Ideally, it's advisable to uninstall first to ensure that all the old 3.9.x files are removed from the site but either way is cool just that if you install 5.x over the existing 3.9, there could be some older files from (3.9) residue still on the site but it really don't do any harm at all.

If I were you, I would choose to uninstall 3.9, and install 5.x on the site
