My first problem is an inconsistency in how the categories are displayed. At the initial login, the categories are displayed as shown in file [1].

When you click on "categories" a second time the view changes to what you see in file [2].

Using links as an example, file [3] shows what you see.

File [4] shows the actual content.

My users are not going to want to dig down three-to-four levels to get to actual content. I thought what I was setting up was going to turn out like this board - a category [beginners] with the list of posts/discussions immediately after the category, as shown in file [6]

A second issue has to do with options for Facebook and others shown in file [5]. I went through the set-up options and thought I had turned them all off; obviously I messed that up. This a completely closed site - I can't have these options to post to social media. I can't open the site to users [scheduled for Wed/Thursday] with these options available.

I tried to set-up using Forums as you have, but went to categories instead. I think that was a mistake on my part.

I will appreciate any help you can offer to undo what I've done and get it done properly.

While getting my site to look like yours is #1 on priority list, getting rid of the social media options is #1.1.

I thought I'd be ready for next week, but I didn't realize how badly I had done.

Thanks

Mark

Happy Holidays
Hello Mark,

I believe what you really want is the "forums" layout rather than having the "categories" menu. This is what we have on our site and I have helped you to exclude the categories link from appearing in the toolbar.

Clicking on the Forums link on the toolbar would then bring the user back to the forums layout on the initial page just like what you see on our site.

As for turning off these social sharing buttons, I have turned this off for you under Settings > Social Integrations and these buttons are no longer appearing now.

I think I'm closing in on getting my site the way I want it. Three issues I'd like to address/correct:

Both top and bottom menu have "ask question", "conversations", and "notifications". If I've read the descriptions properly, I don't want any of those options available. All posting is being done with the categories only. My users only need to be able to post original material and/or reply to existing posts in those categories open to them. "Conversations" seems to apply to on-line communication between two users - either asynchronously or real-time: my users are going to communicate within the categories. I've not been able to get a good definition on "notifications". One source says it's connected to conversations {that it shows the user there conversation requests waiting for them. Another source says "notifications" announces if any new postings in any of the categories. If "notifications" is connected to "conversations" then I don't need it either since I'm removing "conversations as an option.

File [1] shows the three options from the top menu

==================================================

The bottom menu has an extra item - more settings - that is not available on the top menu. It seems very useful. Is there a way that option can also be visible on the top menu?

File [2] shows the bottom menu

===============================================================

I have a question about user email. I'm positive the answer is in the documentation, but I can't find it.

If I have a user that wants to be notified by email when there is a new post in one of the categories they are following, where do they set that email option?

==================================================

Thanks for all your help!

Mark

Hi Mark,

Kindly find my response to your inquiries below:
1. File [1] shows the three options from the top menu
-> Unfortunately, there is no setting to disable those "ask question", "conversation" and "notification" to be disappear on the tollbar currently. However, you can customize it in the file (template override) :
/components/com_easydiscuss/themes/wireframe/toolbar/default.php

2. File [2] shows the bottom menu
-> You can shows the "more setting" by:
1. Click Settings>Layout>Toolbar>Enable-Show More Settings
I've helped you to enable it

3. I have a question about user email. I'm positive the answer is in the documentation, but I can't find it.

If I have a user that wants to be notified by email when there is a new post in one of the categories they are following, where do they set that email option?

-> User can simply subscribe by categories by access the single category page and click on "subscribe by email" and popup mesage will appear and click the "subscribe"
