It is really difficult to find a decent chatting and instant chat (with cams) solution to compliment the easysocial community that I have built. My users are screaming for one.

I am really tempted by AVchat 3 (http://avchat.net/) as it has reasonable pricing and has an integration module for easysocial ready to go. However after testing it out, the chat works great but looks outdated. I am really put off by this, it would not fit my style at all and a full redesign would mean a ton (and I mean a ton) of time. However, they also have great reviews and the application benchmarks well, so I am slightly confused, I want to like this software but can't!

Now there is the other option of Flashcoms community chat (http://www.flashcoms.com/products/community_video_chat/overview/). Besides the fact they want a cool $650.00 USD for the software (unlimited users) and integration with easysocial, they do not have a integration kit so I am slightly dubious of how great the integration will be.

The software looks great and it seems to benchmark OK, my server will handle the load fine but again it is more expensive and seems more hassle. Yet I am very drawn to it?

Has anybody had experience with this software? Can you recommend it or maybe anything else that I may be missing on the market?

I am already using cometchat for instant chat, this works great already but I need dedicated chat rooms with audio and video.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated
Hello Matthew Pate,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,
To be honestly, I never use this chat system before.
Or did you contact with this chat system developer is it got any integration with Easysocial?

Can you try this cometchat system and see is it meet your requirement?
because this system is integrated with Easysocial.

Hello Matthew,

Perhaps it would be best that you contact the original author about this because to be frank, we don't really want to give you inaccurate information of what their plugin does.

Thanks Mark, I really was not expecting an accurate reply from Stack Ideas more an indication from anyone who might have direct experience of the application or dealing with the company.

I have of course contacted the company and they naturally think it is the best thing since sliced bread! They will integrate this with easysocial but they will charge $150.00 USD. That's not a problem as long as it works OK!

Hello Matthew,

Ah, I see. We normally treat every single post in our forum as a question being directed to us and most of the time, we try to reply every post on our forums within 8 - 12 hours. Did not realize that this was directed to the community

Thanks for the heads up on this Matthew!

Try JChatSocial Pro, it has all options for instant chat with guest, public or invited chatroom options, is integrated with EasySocial and html5 peer to peer video chat (currently in beta)** will be available very soon. It is not a hosted solution (runs in house on whatever server you use).

I use the product and rate it and the support on a similar level to Stackideas (world class).

It may not do everything you want, but if you ask they are very responsive to customer feedback.

The price is very good as well.

**It already has a skype bridge for video chat but the html5 peer to peer is a completely new option that everyone can use.

Matthew have you tried CometChats upgraded version that integrates WebRTC? http://www.cometchat.com/blog/cometchat-v5-4-webrtc-and-beyond/

Also having also used JChatSocial Pro, I would say while it loads faster than CometChat, it has a lot of flaws in their setup. Especially related to people being logged in on various devices and browsers at the same time. You end up seeing the person online multiple times, and messages can get lost. Also, I while I like window resizing and ability to move the window around the screen, I dont like how windows load in the center of the screen. Add the fact that there is no hosted... and I really dont think it is worthwhile switching from CometChat to jChatSocial. That said, I do have a lot of respect for their team and their ethics, and maybe things have improved since last time I tried it.

There are indeed Mark, it really depends on what people are looking for on their site, from a simple chat support solution to inter-member text chat or text/video/audio chat with a few/many features in a hosted or in-house server environment.

The cost is an important consideration (some options may be far too expensive for what is on offer), but if we assume the products work the number 1 and 2 priorities are impact on site speed and support.

If it slows down your site and/or the support is poor, walk away from the product because it will give you too many headaches from member complaints.

@Jannik

I am testing the new JChatSocial beta version for them on my site and would be interested in your feedback compared to the last time you used it, if you wish to access and test on my site send me an email (Mark, could you let Jannik have my email address if required)?
