Hi,

When people (guests) post a reaction on my blogposts then i click reply. Is there a way that they automatically receive an email notification when i reply? I dont want people automatically to receive a notification when someone else also posts a reaction below an article. But i think the guest will appreciate a notification when i answer their question.

When this is not automitically possible, how can i let hem know that this option is possible?
Hello Joris,

It is not possible to achieve this because when you post a reply to a thread, you are subscribing to that thread. In other words, if there are new comments, they will be notified. If they don't want to subscribe, they could uncheck the checkbox that says "Subscribe".

Hi Mark,

People do not have to leave their e-mail to leave a comment on my articles. There is no field for e-mail address right now, so they cannot be notified. But when i would use the field for e-mail address, then it will mean that someone who replies automatically receives a notification?

In the past i hide the field for email address because i think it will generate less comments. Is it possible to show the e-mail field and to explicitly add to that email field a remark 'not required but you will receive a notification when i answered your question'?

Hello Joris,

You can modify the language / theme file to describe that but currently there is really no way to notify users if they don't supply their e-mail address.

For Komento 2, you can find the theme file located in /components/com_komento/themes/wireframe/comment/form/emailfield.php

I am not familiair with changes such files but when it seems that i am using an older version maybe it is better to wait and maybe install the latest version and then change things

Hey Joris,

The newest version also same behaviour with the older version of Komento, as my colleague already mentioned that is not possible to notify users if they don't supply their e-mail address.
