Hi!

In Groups, I believe the Album pulls default Privacy setting from the Group type, since it is Open Group the Albums should be set to privacy Everyone. In one of the Groups (Middle School) in our website, an Open Group with tons of Albums/Photos, a non-group member user can see the Albums but when the user click on one of the album it says "No photos available".

Personally, I like the default behavior but it should not say:

"No photos available"

but rather

"Please join the Group to view photos"

Hello LAC Infosys,

Sorry for late reply to this,
I have checked in this group "Middle School" owner and the privacy, it seems like this user "KATIE JURANEK" only allow her friend have the permission to view the album and the photo. So the all the unfriend with this user also can't able to view her photo/album from the group.

Regarding with your another translation suggestion:
>> I will consult with our developer and see how it goes. By the way, thanks for your suggestion.

Hi Arlex,

Got it! So the Album/Photo in Groups will use the User's Privacy setting, hmmm... That is kind of confusing don't you think? If you go to Groups and select an Open Group, then go to Albums and look at the Privacy Icon, you will see the Globe icon which indicates Everyone - because the Group is Open Group. But in reality, like you said it will follow the User's Photo Privacy setting.

If I remember it right, in earlier version of ES, there was a Privacy setting for Albums. I think, personally that's the best way of setting Albums/Photo Privacy in Groups.

If you can, please raise this issue with Mark and whoever is incharge with Albums/Photo. That is kind of confusing, if you think about it, Groups Albums/Photo in my opinion is owned by the Group regardless of who created and uploaded the photos - it only give the creator/uploader the right to manage it. Unless, there is a feature in ES where the User creates the Albums in their profile and be able to Share that Album to a Group, then I think that way, we can then use this User privacy setting. But if the user created the Album in Groups then that should follow the Group Privacy setting as it was originally designed.

I'm still for giving Group the ability to SET it's own Privacy when creating Albums.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hi Jackson,

I am really sorry for the confusion.

By right, the albums / photos from an open group should be accessible by non-group members but there is an issue with the access checking thus non-group members not able to view these photos. I've fixed this issue internally and the fix will be added into next release of EasySocial.

For the quick fix, download the attached zip file and extract the zip file you should see two folders and each folder has albums.php file:

1. Copy 'includes/albums.php' to folder 'JOOMLA/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/albums/' and overwrite the existing albums.php.
2. Copy 'controllers/albums.php' to folder 'JOOMLA/components/com_easysocial/controllers/' and overwrite the existing albums.php.

Let me know if the above work for you or not
Hope this help and have a nice day
Sam
