Hi SI Team

I noticed the following fix for the latest version of ES:

Groups and pages can now be properly created under subcategories

Stupid question why would one have a subcategory in eg a Group?

trying to get my head around this...

thanks

Paul
Hm, I am not sure why is this confusing. Some users want to create groups or pages in a subcategory instead of the main category.

Hi Mark,

I guess I was not so sure if this is about categories inside groups/pages or groups/pages inside categories. My bad.

There is currently no such thing as categories inside groups/pages?

The reason I am asking is because I am thinking of for eg a Group XYZ with a "free" and "paid" category with a Pay Plans pay wall!?! I hope that makes come kind of sense and is not just nonsense?

thanks

Hey Paul,

There is currently no such thing as categories inside groups/pages?

I am sorry that I am not quite sure I understand you here, do you mean you want to allow group owner create a new Page which associated with the group?

If yes, unfortunately that is not possible to achieve this.

Groups and pages can now be properly created under subcategories

Basically what we fix for this is :
- user unable to create a single group into group subcategories.
- user unable to create a single pages into page subcategories.

Hey Arlex,

Yes I obviously completely misunderstood this sorry,,,,

I am sorry that I am not quite sure I understand you here, do you mean you want to allow group owner create a new Page which associated with the group?

I was thinking eg in a group have things like discussions or videos in one of two categories Paid or Free?

But I guess that is not possible?

Just trying to think of a way of giving people a teaser/preview of a group here....

best

Yes, that is possible to achieve this.

For example if you would like the restrict group discussion app only accessible on certain group categories, you can edit this from backend > Easysocial > application > search for video (group type) > access control (screenshot : https://monosnap.com/file/EvGorJDxxQ1THu9lKuP6RSGqNF425Y )

Hope this will help.

Hey Arlex

Yes, that is possible to achieve this.

And ditto for eg the Videos App for Groups. Wow.

So with respect to your discussions eg.

a) Create two categories for a group and/or groups.
b) Name them for eg Paid and Free
c) Put some disussions in the Paid and some in the Free category in group XYZ.
d) Use Pay Plans to restrict certain URLS including paid category URLs???

thanks

Hm sorry I think I misunderstand what you trying to achieve here just now, first I thought you would like to restrict user do not have permission to create discussion or video under specific group category.

Unfortunately that is not possible to achieve this if you would like to restrict the user access for those group discussion and video under specific group category.
