When setting up a Group, one of the options is Notifications (Yes/No). I assumed if set to NO that when new users join that group all other members would not get a notification..that doesn't seem to be the case..what is that for then?
Hello Peter,

May I know where did you see this setting? Perhaps you can provide us a screenshot.

Sorry, my fault. I still have the original problem though. How do I turn off the notification of a new user joining a group so everyone in that group does not see it?

We assign 2 groups to everyone who registers on our site. 1 group relating to their profile type and 1 group that is our tech support group. From that point forward I want users only to be alerted when someone joins their specific profile group NOT the tech support group. Make sense?

Hi Peter,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Unfortunately it is not possible to turn off stream and notification for specific groups in easysocial. The only way to do this is turn off the notifications globally from your backend > easysocial > alerts > Groups - User joins the group, http://screencast.com/t/5S4m1cfqA and backend > easysocial > applications > group - group > stream tab, http://screencast.com/t/KFv1ztbNcYw3 .
