While doing some testing today I noticed that there is a small issue with the group system.
As I tried to create a group with one of my test users I noticed I wasn't able to do so. Yes, I was able to click the Add Group button and when I was brought to the category selection page there were no categories. Yes, I have categories. Upon further investigation I noticed that in the admin panel I had set it so that only one of my user profiles would be able to create groups for all of the categories.
Thoughts...
1. If there are no available categories for a user group to create a group then the "add/create group" buttons should be hidden
2. If the buttons are going to stay the user should be present with a notification that they do not have access to create groups
