For group news, we actually use the editor that you configure in Joomla because we believe some users would actually want to use a full fledge WYSIWYG editor when crafting a group announcement. Perhaps we should standardize it to use bbcodes instead which is similar to the discussions app. Will see if we can update this in the future.

Yeh that would better, having it standardised. It's fine for admins who are used to using a different editor in some parts of the site but for users it would seem a bit strange I think. Just my opinion though. Maybe it could be a setting, choose one or the other, to keep everyone happy.

I would like something very simple in announcements/news, just text and... Line Feeds.

Well that's hard to achieve as if you don't use any editor ("Editor - None" in Joomla), you will not have any LF when your announcement is displayed. And all other editors come with a lot of HTML formatting I don't want for my users!

If ever you have an idea on how I could have what I want...

I agree that the standard editor for updates used in easysocial should also be available in Group Announcements. The main ES status update editor is just so much more robust in terms of features.

We are trying to make all of the features on RVpoints.com work really well. Any ideas when the announcements editor will be improved? The joomla wsywyg editor just doesn't cut it.

Would you be willing to build out this functionality if we paid for it?

Hm, the announcements are using the full WYSIWYG editor. You should already be able to insert images?

It has the minimal insert picture from source, there is no way to upload an image.
