Hi -

I have noticed a big discrepancy between the traffic numbers on google analytics, which are much lower compared to Joomla which are higher

any idea why this may be?

thanks!
Hello Nick,

Yes, for more accurate readings, you should look at Google Analytics

Hello Nick,

There are times when certain spiders from various search engines are crawling your site and there's no way to determine this actually. Google Analytics calculates these based on the data that they have over years and they are able to pinpoint which ip addresses are valid for hits calculation. You will hit the same issues with Joomla articles because they do not maintain a list of known spiders as well.

Hi Mark

So are you saying the google analytics numbers are the only ones I should go by?

Hello Nick,

Unfortunately we do not have such statistics because Google Analytics has a different algorithm of detecting hits.
