glitch in search - found article gets lost

I search for category "Inbound Processes" specifically for allocated word.

Search result find two postings.
When I chose the second or the first one to open the "-" gets changed by ":" and article can't be found to open.

Isn't this weird behavior?

This is a Joomla 3 issue. When I did the search on Joomla 4, the hyphen is not converted to double colon(attached).
As an additional note: Choosing the category is irrelevant, it always misbehaves regardless, FYI
I am able to reproduce this. Will log this in our tracker.

Thanks for the note the version.
I now upgraded to 3.10 and seeking to update 4 if I can manage it myself.
Is there any backup tool you could suggest for my version?

Hello Raymond.
I followed the instructions from Joomla.org.
As you see I got the notification only for EasyDiscuss and EasyBlog updates are populated.

Do I need to upgrade Joomla 4 first, and then deal with Easy Access & Easy Blog updates?
What's you suggested sequence here please?

The RED ones, seems a concern.
What's the Joomla version do you suggest to upgrade if it is my choice???

I upgraded the website as per your suggestion to 4.2.2
As a result; the ":" issue has been resolved.

You may upgrade Joomla 4 first since your current ED and EB version is compatible with Joomla 4.
What's the Joomla version do you suggest to upgrade if it is my choice???
Normally we suggest the latest version.

Note: Please perform major updates on a staging/clone site first. This is so that you can identify issues that arises due to the upgrade first before doing it on the live site.
