Hi,

I am using 3 development sites and a production site. I need to upgrade ES on local site and then I can upgrade it on other dev and prod sites.

I tried upgrading Easysocial 1.4.8 to 1.4.9 but it says we have launcher for 1.4 upgrades... I downloaded the launcher and placed it in administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages and tried to upgrade.. Now it shows the following error. PFA.

Initializing Database Failed
Sorry, there was some errors when trying to extract the queries.zip file. Please contact our support team.

Arlex upgraded it on one of the development sites for me but I need to know how to resolve that issue and be able to upgrade ES on local site too. Please tell me steps to resolve the issue.

Could you please help? This is very urgent now.

Thanks!
Himangi
Can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can better have a check?

By the way, in the future you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

Hi Arlex,

As I said, it is a local site on my machine so cant provide the details. I had provided details for a dev site where you have upgraded it. My question is how come you didnt get the error there which I was getting on that dev site too. And how did you resolve it?

Yes, this is what I normally do from last night in your dev site.
1. upload launcher installer through your Joomla backend installer page
2. Click continue installation when upload finished
3. Click Next -> until system ask you insert the API key, then click next again
4. Then the installation run smoothly without hitting this error what you mentioned at above.

By the way, can you check your local site Folder/file directory permission is it all set to writable?

If the issue still persists after you set all to writable permission from your local folder/file directory.

Then you have to follow my below instruction to manually update these fix file and purge all the index data from your backend smart search component.
1. Download my attached files and replace into these following file location in your site
JoomlaFolder\administrator\components\com_easysocial\includes\cluster\cluster.php
JoomlaFolder\administrator\components\com_easysocial\includes\group\group.php

2. Go to backend > component > smart search > click `clear index` button
3. After done it, then click `index` button and wait for the process complete

Hi,
I am getting following error when I try to upgrade from 1.4.10 to 1.4.11. This was happening before I raised the issue while upgrading to 1.4.9 too. Is there any way I can avoid this?

Downloading Installation Files...Failed
We have released a new launcher for EasySocial 1.4. Please download the new launcher from our site at http://stackideas.com/dashboard

Perhaps you can share with me how you perform the update Easysocial in your site?

By the way, did you try download the launcher installer from your dashboard is it the issue still persists?

Hi

I clicked on the Upgrade button which is shown on dashboard of the component.
No, I didnt download the launcher again, assuming that I am already using 1.4 launcher. Do I need to redownload and try installing it like a new extension ?

Hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

I've tried in my locally click update button from backend Easysocial dashboard, it seems work fine.

By the way, may i know your installation issue is it still persists? If yes, can I have the permission to help you update to 1.4.11 version ?

Actually the launcher installer is not mean that when you already installed in your site previously, you no need to download again and install again, because when Easysocial new version released, mean you have to download launcher or full installer from http://stackideas.com/dashboard , and then install through your Joomla installer, it will update all the latest file into your site.

Note : In case your `Update` button do not work from backend Easysocial dashboard, you can download the launcher installer and manually install through Joomla backend installer page.

Hi Arlex,

Using the latest launcher, I could upgrade the extension. Thanks for that! Will keep in mind to use the latest launcher always..

One question, since I am using git method to deploy on different instances of the site, the files get updated on other sites automatically. However, the db changes will need to implemented separately. Is there any way to know whether there are any db changes or not? I dont want to directly upgrade extensions on any of the site instances except my local site.

Unfortunately we do not have any info to update our user we have update db changes in new version.
If you hitting some db issue, you can run the maintenance script from Easysocial backend.
