Hello Support

I used to have this here running on my CB Site.

http://www.nordmograph.com/extensions/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=14&virtuemart_category_id=7&Itemid=58

I notice that they now have a version for Easy Social.

http://www.nordmograph.com/extensions/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=79&virtuemart_category_id=7&Itemid=58

My question according to the Nordgraph Site:

"This product will keep on evolving depending on EasySocial new geolocation features and popular customers requests."

So what are your plans at Stackideas? Are you planning to implement anything like this anytime soon.

best

Paul
The custom fields in EasySocial profile now supports the geocoded location for the profile when they register or edit their profile

Hi Mark

Thanks for your quick reply. That is good to know with the custom fields :-)

Do you have any idea if this information got imported during the CB migration. I do not se it showing up. I only have 41 users with Geo location. So I am thinking. Set up the standard geolocation fields in Easy Social and copy and paste 41 times 2 for latitude and longitude from the Geocommunity CB plugin.

Do you have an idea how long before you guys implement a map thingy. Similar to Geocommunity? I am assuming that you have it on the cards some where ;-)

Are there instructions some where on line how to set up 2 custom fields for latitude and longitude?

thanks

Paul

Hello Paul,

Currently the migration does not support the migration of lat / lng of an address in Community Builder. Does the core of Community Builder supports this?

I would image so. (But I am not a hard core geek.) There is a link between Geocommunity and CB. I used to be able to a) Update my lat / lng on a Geocommunity map displayed on my profile. b) Then there was a map module which I could display anywhere on the Site with all resisted (lat / lng) users on it. It was really quite powerful and possible the best thing about CB with the notable exception of Project-fork. c) It was also possible to decide what fields from CB turned up on the mini Geocommunity profile when you hovered over a user on the map. d) I also notice that Nordgraph have a some kind of batch thingy. Which I guess is in a sense a migrator: http://www.nordmograph.com/extensions/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=30&virtuemart_category_id=7&Itemid=58

But as I said I only have 41 users with geo location stuff so if you could tell me how to set up lat / lng in ES I will take the tried and tested Copy & Paste route!!!

Hello Paul,

Perhaps if Geocommunity extended CB to allow lat / lng, they could actually add their own migrator to migrate these data because the migrator within EasySocial for CB only migrates what is there for CB

"Perhaps if Geocommunity extended CB to allow lat / lng, they could actually add their own migrator to migrate these data because the migrator within EasySocial for CB only migrates what is there for CB"

Well however that would work exactly it can not be to difficult. I just figured out the following. Use the CB back end Advanced Search which is, and I hesitate to say this actually pretty amazing. See screen shots below. Enter “.” in the search fields and get a list of all 41 users with Geolocation Data. If I was any good at PHP I could probably do something! But what the hell... That is maximum of 60 minutes copy and pasting for me :-) Can you please advise how to set up two custom fields in ES. So all of this works seamlessly? It would make sense that if Nordgraph rewrote this plugin for ES that they should be able to read your standard Geo location info :-)

Is a Stackideas map system is on your radar? If not I might just buy the Nordgraph module.

Hello Paul,

To be honest, we haven't really looked into the "user's location module" yet at this point of time but we'll see how it goes. You don't really need to configure 2 custom fields for the latitude / longitude values. You just need the "Address" field. When a user sets their address and save, we store the geocoded data in the custom fields data table. Then, 3rd party plugins / app makers could easily retrieve this geocoded data and populate it with their own mapping system :P

This is useful information because with the myriad of choices it is good to know which route to take ;-) e.g. I was thinking of using the time zone option but this is probably as of now not the way to go!

If the info is essentially hidden in the depths of ES somewhere. As of now I would have too:

a) Activate the Address Tab.
b) Reverse engineer by copying my 41 co-ordinates in there i.e. if I go enter the lat/long in google maps I can find the address. And then enter the address.

Nordgraph are OK, the nice thing about them for me is that I spent a lot of time figuring out how to format and size maps. Getting this info to carry over should not be a big deal!

Hello Paul,

Hm, it's pretty easy to enable the address field. All you need to do is to go to the "Profiles" area at the back end of EasySocial and click on the "Custom Fields" tab. Then, if address is not already inserted, you need to drag and drop the address field on the right over

P/S: The geocoding works in RC4 only. You might want to upgrade to RC4.

Hi Mark

I am having difficulty with the Registration process. In particular with the Address: First problem my address does not actually have a second line. Leaving this second line empty throws an error. I have tried tricking the system by for example putting a symbol in there like “-“ or adding “My Apartment” this does not help. State also seems to be weird. And seems to be throwing errors. Maybe this is related to what you are saying?

“The geocoding works in RC4 only. You might want to upgrade to RC4”

I will look at the upgrading tomorrow but am frankly a little afraid of this upgrade process. If I am not mistaken I have 1.2.0 RC2. What I have in my downloads folder is this "com_easysocial_1.2.0_full_pro.zip" And I seem to recall something about a RC2!?!

I need to go here:http://stackideas.com/issues/2050

Download:

http://docs.stackideas.com/administrators/setup/installing_beta_packages

This is the but that fries my brain

IMPORTANT

************************************************************

If you are upgrade from earlier BETA's or RC's, then you will need to execute below SQL statement.

delete from #__social_config where `type` in ( 'dbversion', 'scriptversion' );

Remember to replace the #__ to your own Joomla table prefix.

************************************************************

Will I be guided through this process with some kind of installation wizard or do I really need to know hat I am doing!?!

To the best of my understanding this guy here:
http://www.nordmograph.com/extensions/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=30&virtuemart_category_id=15&Itemid=58

Will extract address but not Latitude and Longitude which seems a little weir to me. But what the hell do I know!

Am quite excited about the Geocommunity Module and have taken the plunge and bought it. The demo looks kind of impressive :-) And I can set it up with relative easily. Having been there done that

Hi,

Please check the address field's parameter by going to backend -> EasySocial -> Profiles -> Select Profile -> Custom Field and click on the address field in the form to load the configuration.

Check if the parameters for requirements are set correctly.

Regarding the installation, apart from the SQL statement that you need to run manually through your host (PHPMYADMIN), the rest is the same.

Hi Jason

thanks for your reply.

OK I think I am getting the upgrade thing. First thing I will do is make a back up ;-)

With respect to the SQL statement I need to follow the instructions here for example.

http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin_mysql_query.htm

On the left hand side of my phpadmin pretty much every thing starts with “fbug” which is short for final bug the name of my site. From “fbug_acymailing_config” through too “fbug_xmap_sitemap”

There are also some things starting with “second” e.g. from “second_acymailing_config” through too “Structuresecond_weblinks” I am guessing that this are irrelevant. Ditto the last table called “temp_tb”

Assuming the above is all correct.

At what point do I run this statement. BEFORE or AFTER the upgrade?

delete from #__social_config where `type` in ( 'dbversion', 'scriptversion' );

In my case should I enter the below line?

delete from fbug_social_config where `type` in ( 'dbversion', 'scriptversion' );

Finally back to the actually topic of this thread ;-)

I guess that I did not have things set up perfectly but believe that I do now and I am still getting errors. Please see the screen shots.

thanks

Paul

Hi,

The sql statement should be ran before the update.

You can check your prefix by going to backend -> System -> Global Configuration -> Server -> Database Table Prefix.

Regarding the address field, please create an issue (for all 1.2 related issues as well) in our issues platform and provide us all the necessary site access so that I can investigate further. It seems like address field is not the issue here actually.

Hi Jason

Am backing up now. Then, I will do the update first. Double check and then post if necessary. I am noticing some other weirdness when changing photos.

Data base prefix is as shown in screen shot.

thanks

Hi,

In that case your database prefix is as shown then.

Do post any 1.2 related issues in our issues platform.

Hello Cristiano,

Right now we only store the geocoded data so that 3rd party apps could extend this but we'll only be adding the search location features in 1.3.
