When I make a friend request, should that person receive an email notification regarding the request? If yes, it is not working. I am testing this feature on sample accounts. The notification does appear on the dashboard when I log into the recipient's account.
Hello William,

Yes, that person should receive an email when a new friend request is made. If you are not getting the notification email there's could only be 4 possibilities:

1. Your notification settings is not configured to receive email for friend requests.

2. The mails are still pending in the mail queue waiting to be picked up by the cron service. You can verify this by viewing the mail activities at the back end.

3. Your email settings in your Global Configuration is incorrect. Do you receive any other emails?

4. The email landed in the spam box.

hey william,
it depends on your settings actually. when you check your easysocial backend -> alerts you can define if you want to use no notification / internal notification or email notification.

have you enabled email notification for friend requests there but the mail is not getting sent? if so, please provide us with your site details and ftp access so that we can investigate this at your end.

Thanks. I did not set up the chron service. I see the emails in the Email Activity with the red X in the State column.

Hello William,

You should setup the cron service as outlined in http://docs.stackideas.com/administrators/cronjobs/cronjobs
