Hi

Think its a bug but need confirmation. I have added a user as a Friend (request yet to be accepted) but the user is still being shown in Suggestions with the Connect requirement.

Technically if I have sent a request then the person should not be in suggestion any more?

Regards,
Avinash
Hello Avinash,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. Can you give this a try again? I have applied some fixes for you on the site.

Hello Avinash,

Are you friends with the user yet? Or did you only just sent the request?

Hello Avinash,

Can you please provide us with the FTP access to the site so that I can run some tests there?

Hi Mark,

No worries!

I did check and somebody who has already been sent a friend suggestion no longer appears in the Friend Suggestion field - awesome . Although I have now run into the following problems which were not present earlier. (Also, the change that you made - would it be present in future updates or do I need to do the same manually?)

Other issues:
1) Normally why a user is not logged in, guest users could view the profiles of people registered on the site (Setting is for everyone to see the profiles) but that is no longer possible and I am being asked to login (check the profiles listed on the connect page)
2) I have set a setting that only I can "post status" on my profile others are not allowed to but somebody else can still post on my profile!
3) The sign out link in the EasySocial Menu module provided by ES on the top right hand side of my page works randomly - mostly it returns to the dashboard of the user and does not sign out!

let me know if you can look at it?

thanks
Avinash

Hi Mark,

Quick FYI: Point 2 and 3 are not related to the change you made - just put the issues in one location so that I don't keep creating posts!

Thanks

Hello Avinash,

Please find the response to your inquiries below:

1) Normally why a user is not logged in, guest users could view the profiles of people registered on the site (Setting is for everyone to see the profiles) but that is no longer possible and I am being asked to login (check the profiles listed on the connect page)

It depends if your user actually sets a specific privacy which prevents guests from viewing their items.

2) I have set a setting that only I can "post status" on my profile others are not allowed to but somebody else can still post on my profile!

I have tested this locally and it does seem to work fine for me. Perhaps these post were made before you make those changes? When you view your profile, as another user, do you see the story form ?

3) The sign out link in the EasySocial Menu module provided by ES on the top right hand side of my page works randomly - mostly it returns to the dashboard of the user and does not sign out!

Hm, I am not really sure how to reproduce this but each time I try to click on the sign out link, it works for me.

Avinash: I have attached a screenshot of the default settings. Also, I could view the profiles as far as last evening which is when I checked last! I have reimposed the restrictions on all users (although I didn't make any change - I am the only one on the platform now!). Still can't see profiles as guest!

2) I have set a setting that only I can "post status" on my profile others are not allowed to but somebody else can still post on my profile!

Avinash: Hi Mark, reference to the attached image here as well... these have been the settings since the beginning... and I see the profile of aanother user I see the story form!

3) The sign out link in the EasySocial Menu module provided by ES on the top right hand side of my page works randomly - mostly it returns to the dashboard of the user and does not sign out!

Avinash: it works randomly and I have checked it across two laptops especially on the dashboard! the only change I made since yesterday (it was fine) is to put a custom member home plug in and installed social ads. I unpublished social ads but there was no difference. Doubt the plugin had anything to do!

Cheers

These settings in your screen shot are the "Profile Types" default settings. It could be different for your user. Please edit your user's privacy and ensure that the privacy is set correctly.

Avinash: Hi Mark, reference to the attached image here as well... these have been the settings since the beginning... and I see the profile of aanother user I see the story form!

Please try the step above and see if the user is still able to access it.

Hi Mark,

Guest users are unavailable to view any profile! Default settings, profile type settings and individual user settings have all been checked - profile view and search is for everyone but guests cannot view the profile. Maybe its something I did but I am still playing around with everything by modifying all changes made in the past three days. Any Ideas?

The Sign out issue was a major pain - I have resolved it by removing the "Custom Member Home Plugin" http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/site-access/login-redirect/21647

I do not know why that was an issue but the Sign Out in the easy social menu was working as a Sign In. Sign out in the sidebar was working fine - it points to the sign out link/page. The Sign Out link in the menu points to javascript:void(0) is that the reason for a problem?

For now have removed the plugin.....

Thanks
Avinash

Hello Avinash,

When you click on the sign out link, it actually is calling a javascript method to "submit" a form. I am not really sure what that plugin does but it's probably messing up with the logout form?

As for guests not being able to view any profile, did you create any menu items that links to the Profile area but restricted the menu to be "Registered" only?
