Hi,

Just want to give you my thoughts on the Forum View. It is a step in the right direction but it is still not very usable. The problem of Forums has been solved a long time ago... which is why all forum components follow basically the same structure.. because it works and people do not have to learn a new graphical user interface..

The forums view currently shows main categories and some posts within those main categories.. but it is difficult to know which sub categories those posts come from (unless you read the small print).. For a new user to the site, they will not know that there are sub categories.. so new users start to get confused when they start seeing sub categories popping up from nowhere as they start clicking links.

The Forums View should be very simple.. it should show the main categories and the sub categories within each main category on the frontpage view. This is what all other forum components do.. because it is logical and it works..

Is it possible to have the forums display this.. or is it too difficult?

Rene
If the post is posted in a subcategory, clicking on the "main category" would list them down as what you have mentioned here.

When we started building EasyDiscuss, it was never invented to be a forum It is supposed to be a Q&A and we then added more forum-ish tools which made EasyDiscuss a hybrid between a forum and a Q&A extension.

Hi Mark,

I would also add that EasyDiscuss acts like a ticket system..

Is it possible to modify the frontpage forum view so that it shows main categories and one level of subcategories? Show subcategories rather than posts.. so you can see all the forums on one page...

Hey Rene,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Unfortunately that was not possible to achieve this in current system.

But I would like suggest you to use category layout for your forum frontpage, so it will appear all the main category and subcategory at the same page without posts.
