Hello,

Is there a way too ensure that all posts and replies are being shown in one time zone? Currently the posts are showing in various timezones based on where the user is who is viewing, where the user is who made the posts etc.

Thanks
Hello Fidel,

I believe you are referring to EasyDiscuss? All posts are stored in GMT. However, if the user's timezone is different than the server, it is displaying the date / time based on the user's time zone.

This is the correct behavior because if a post was posted at 10AM GMT, and I have my profile set to -2, it would be confusing for me if a post was posted at 10AM because my current time would be 8AM and it's impossible that someone posts ahead of me?

Yeah the only issue is I am seeing users who see their posts in their time zone (EST) and my reply in my time zone (GMT+1
)

Hello Fidel,

Need to replicate this locally.

1. What is the server timezone currently?

2. What is your account's timezone?

3. What is the user's timezone?

The user who posted had his account set to EST which could be why his post showed as ESTA and mine showed as GMT+1. He has since changed his post to utc and now all posts are showing 5hrs ahead of his time zone.

My joomla is set to UTC.

I'm pretty sure that my linode is also set to UTC.

I asked a few users to help me test by setting all their timezones to UTC but they all see posts listed as +5hrs.

Hey Fidel,

I've checked from your backend timezone and this user acocunt 'testuser2' also set to UTC.

Then I logged in as this user account 'testuser2' and submit a new discussion (http://replaceyourdomainname.com/forum-home/19190-this-is-test-post-please-ignore) on your site, this discussion post created date will stored in GMT time.

Can you share with us what is that discussion date it show to you?

Also can you double check with your webhosting provider regarding your mysql server timezone is it configure correctly? You can refer on this reference link : http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/databases/how-to-change-mysql-server-time-zone

I asked a few users to help me test by setting all their timezones to UTC but they all see posts listed as +5hrs.

Is it possible provide us following details as well?
- provide us these few user login credentials so I can do some comparison of this
- provide us one of the discussion URL which the date is shown wrongly.

Hello Fidel,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. Sure, when you are ready, let us know and we'll look into this.
