In the case here, of a short post, it does not open up to a page view. Page views demonstrate the formatting fine (e.g. hyperlinks). What to do?

Also, regarding media , does Easyblog access the Joomla Media Manager? Currently I m needing to uplod files from a desktop each time, even if they are sitting in Joomla Media Manager...

Cheers, Robin
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

May i know how you insert your blog content in your post? Because if you would like to add the hyperlink into your post, you have to manually add it, you can see my screenshot here : http://screencast.com/t/JX2xq8IhKo

If the issue still persists, perhaps you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access into http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so I can take a look of this issue?

Unfortunately that was not possible at this point of time.

Hello Arlex , yes I am adding the hyperlink as you say.
However it is not appearing either on the list view of the blog, or when autoposted to Facebook.

Here is the view in the editor:
http://screencast.com/t/aNOxGlxDm

You will notice that the carriage return formatting is also stripped out...

You already do have the backend and ftp access (see Mark/Ezrul who have already been in!) It would be great if you could take a look.

Hi Robin,

May I know did you enable truncation on your frontpage listing? If the truncation is enabled, the html tag will be stripped out to avoid any unclosed html tag on your frontpage that can messed up your styling. The truncation settings can be found from your backend > easyblog > settings > layout > truncations. Try to disable the truncation and see how it goes.

Hi Ezrul,
Yes, we are using the truncation, and you're right, switching it off re-enables the html. However, this makes for very long posts: I like the 'readmore' style - much more user-friendly. But with a short blogpost under the truncation limit there is no option to get the html code back. Plus it seems that autopost also sends to Facebook with the links stripped out, which isn't good.
I can handle the problem of short posts by making sure that all posts are longer than the truncation limit, but I can't fix the facebook problem.

I see why the truncation strips out the html code, but on balance I think that creates a worse problem! Can we have a version where the html is retained?
Cheers, Robin

Hi Robin,

What you can do is to insert readmore block into your content to separate your introtext and your content. Please see screencast.com/t/u9lJMCE9A

Let me know if this method fits you or not
Hope this help and have a nice day!

I will try it, Sam, it sounds good. Where are the setup buttons for the readmore? (I can't see an 'insert readmore' in the editor)

Yes, I see.
I can see how to do it where there is a natural block split (i just did it with 'spirit of studio blog at http://www.sightlines-initiative.com/diary.html?start=3 ), but it doesn't insert simply into blog text in the editor, does it??

So we need a simple procedure instruction to how to make a blog with a readmore (e.g. how to split http://www.sightlines-initiative.com/diary.html?limitstart=0 : the challenge of co-constructed learning'?)

First, I would need to split the text to fit a block in.
Then it will be ok.
With new blogs, I need to advise authors to write a short intro paragraph, then tell them how to insert the 'readmore' before continuing.

It would be great to have a 'readmore' button in the 'face' of the editor!

Cheers, Robin

Hi Robin,

I've requested my colleague to write a tutorial for you on how you / your authors can insert the readmore blocks into your EadyBlog composer editor. Please see http://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/how-tos/how-to-add-readmore-block-in-composer

It would be great to have a 'readmore' button in the 'face' of the editor!

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently the composer has a very limited space to display buttons thus users will need to click on 'add blocks' to select the readmore block. We will see how we can enhance the usability of the composer in the future.

Thanks again and hope this help.

The tricky thing in your tutorial is the first sentence: http://screencast.com/t/ZCiPLvU1GkI !
Our editor opens like this: http://screencast.com/t/gad5rwubU
and I can't see how to turn each paragraph into a separate text block (as shown in your example), either in new blogs or the existing ones such as this: http://screencast.com/t/nidLIi2yFl .

So help still needed! And I look forward to the enhanced composer! (Or is it more advantageous to use JCE instead??)

I see, thanks. So we need to add the readmore as we create the blog. It can't be dropped in afterwards. Cheers, Robin

Hi Robin,

Yes, you may add the readmore block while or after you have finished writing your blog. By the way, because if it is a individual block, you may add it at anytime you wish. You can also add the readmore block when editing the blogpost.

Cheers.

OK, I've seen how to do it with existing posts: I have to cut the text where I want the readmore, create a new textblock, paste the text back into that, and then I can create and insert the readmore block. Hooray!
I think it's sorted now and I can make a clear instruction for the others...

It would still be good to have an 'insert readmore' button in the frontend of the composer/editor! The system is a bit clunky to work with., but anyway I think we've got it now!
