The add link button does nothing on links such as https://flic.kr/p/21GYpGL and a message continually appears asking you to 'add'
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Based on what i checked, it seems like when i manually access this link https://flic.kr/p/21GYpGL on the browser.

It will do the redirect to this page https://www.flickr.com/photo.gne?short=21GYpGL , after that only redirect to the correct page
https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnjbloomfield/38532358392/ , this is the reason why it doesn't retrieve the correct content at the first place.

Perhaps you can try share this final link and see how it goes. https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnjbloomfield/38532358392/

Hi Arlex

That doesn't really help as users are not going to investigate where the Flickr 'share' link leads. They are just going to keep telling me it doesn't work.

This isn't an issue on any other social network.

The user should still be able to add the link as text even if the system fails to fetch a preview, but there isn't even an explanatory warning message give the system just doesn't react.

This is a bug that needs fixing not something users can be 'educated' to workaround.
