First photo Issue

Hi,

This is for me an issue becaus on previous version I never facing this huge problem

I use Esayblog from the beggining of Easyblog, so from years and this time I am a bit disapointed.
From the beggining we have the first picture of the post blog dispaly everywhere, in last post pages as main picture, in Showcase module, In Map module, etc.

So why this option have been remove in EB5 ????

Why have you change this? My blog have 4 years and it was looking good and now not anymore! This first picture have to attract people, without that less people click on read more button!

Why not let people choose between first picture or other choice!

How you can imagine we are able to change more than 1000 post and add a photo in each ne to enhance our post blog, how can I telle to my user to di the same thing for every sngle post.

So could you give us an option to choose what we want use as first picture?

Hi Greg,

I already created a ticket for our developers to put back this feature as there is a lot more other customers asking for this feature to be put back.

If we have problem with the first photo as blog image for this version, we will let you know here ASAP.

Hello Greg,

I am sorry for the delayed reply.

We do have plan to altering easyblog blog image to use first image of the blog post as blog image but we need to do it properly and this will take some time to get it roll out. Hope you understand.

Hey Greg,

By right we should have add this features in latest version of easyblog (version 5.0.17), http://screencast.com/t/ARkx34iCDYx . If you are using older version than 5.0.17 perhaps you might want to consider to update it to the latest version and see how it goes.

I update manually, and I've tried to send a new blog, first picture haven't been displayed, so I suppose there is an option in setting smewhere. I check but I haven(t find it.

Any help will be nice

Hey Greg,

The main reason that we are enforcing a post image is because many users aren't aware that using the first image as the post cover is not going to be suffice. What if your first image in your blog post is a smiley icon? Do you want that as your post cover?

There is no way to detect which image is a proper image for your blog post apart from you telling the system which is to utilize the post cover. The only way around this if you really want the system to use the first image as the image on your listings, is to enable the automated truncation settings at the back end of EasyBlog under Settings > Layout > Post Cover. You need to position the image to appear on the top of the listing.

I check my setting and there is no choice to position the photo on top of the listing so I select left as you can see on my printscreen

setting on truncation was already with image on top (en haut on my print screen)
I haven't sent another post but there is still a problem with the image for the old 110 post which they have no picture anymore since updating to EB5 as yyou can see on my second print screen and on this link http://www.nomadsroad.com/fr/le-voyage-et-pays-traverses/blog-du-voyage-interactif?view=latest&start=24

Please provide us with the ftp access to check on this. For some reasons the images aren't being detected.

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Can you please try this again now? To be honest, I personally feel the post cover strategy looks way much better than this But it's entirely up to you if you don't want to insert post covers for your post.

I totaly agree with you, the post cover look 100 time better. But when you travel and you have a bad connection, you have not enough time to connect to the background and upload the cover. It's also for that I use WLW to send my post because it's much easier. And all traveller do it like this
And I was thinking with your new system, the first picture would become like the cover, so wide with a nice look. It is not possible,?

I don't talk about old post but new post I send by WLW.

Hey Greg,

This is under the assumption that your "first photo" is large. Not everyone is intelligent enough to know that the first image should always be larger If we extend the width of it, you'll get pixelated image which would be even worst

right! It's pitty because it was looking good ,
So there is no option to get it this way,automatically when I post it by WLW.

Just another think, I just notice after sending you the last message.

at the bootom of the articlethere is a list of related post, they don't have any picture

I would advise you to turn off the related options because currently the related doesn't support first image. You can disable it from Settings > Layout > Post Options
