I just tested to see whether I could + Add a Filter to the News Feed by adding a Filter Tag into the News Feed Title. It does not work.

It would be great to Filter News Feeds this way. It would be nice to have this feature added.
Hello Randall,

When you create a new filter in the dashboard, it actually allows you to display stream items with specific tags used on the stream. For instance if you tag the stream with #hello , and create a filter for #hello, you will only see updates from stream items that are tagged #hello

Thanks Mark,

Clarification: What I was asking is that a check be made for a tag in the News Feed Title field so that the tag Filter can be added to the Filter request. Great way to check all News Feeds from various topics. ie: Marketing News, Sports News etc. A person may want to filter News Feeds and right now there is no way to filter them or add a tag to filter them.

Here is a screencast to clarify what I am asking. - http://screencast.com/t/IMPibw77YMZt

Hello Randall,

Ah, I think you may have "misunderstood" the use of the news feed filter on the dashboard. The news feed filter are purely for stream items only. It doesn't actually filter feed items from the feeds app (Although I think it could make sense if we allow filtering by apps too)

Yes, allowing the Filtering of Apps would be most welcome and very beneficial.

I can see people wanting to do filtering of Easyblog blogs and Easydiscuss discussions and other Apps.

This would set Easysocial way ahead of anything out there in the way of social networking tools.

Noted, thanks for the heads up on this. I don't think it is possible to fit this in 1.2 but if we can't probably on 1.3
