Hi Mark & Team,

What does the Privacy Rules means in Custom Fields? Does it mean, I can create a field and set it to be only visible to a particular Profile? Or members? How does it look like? I was hoping it will also top into Joomla ACL. But the description is Privacy so I am assuming it is the ES Privacy.

Thanks!
Hello Jackson,

Yes, that is correct. It determines which users are allowed to view custom fields from a specific user.

That is cool Mark thanks for adding that. I think I got how this would look like users will be able to choose Privacy for custom fields in their Profile just like the Privacy for Story? Am I understanding it right? Since, this is Privacy, setting is controlled by the Users.

Well, what I am hoping is more of an ACL like, I'd like to create a Text Area - as Notes where I can set the ACL to Staff (Joomla Group). So all members of the Staff Group can see the Notes field. But the custom field will never be visible to other users. Also useful for something like Case Management.

If not Joomla ACL, at least Profile type.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello LAC,

I am sorry for the late reply.
May I know how many profile types do you have in EasySocial? Is it Staff Group is one of the EasySocial profile types? If so, you can create a custom notes field only for this profile types. You can have it try first and see if this suit your need.

Hope this will help.
Thanks.

Hi Mohd,

I currently have 2 Profile Types, Community and Staff.

Yes, that is what I'm going to do, is to create a Notes custom field for Community Profile Type. But the problem is I cannot make the Notes custom field visible only to Staff Profile Type.

If I can do that, it will be awesome! For Privacy, since Privacy is User's driven they can choose who can see the Field but then again I cannot use Privacy for my purpose, I would need ACL.

Is it possible that I can make a work around on this using Theme?

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello LAC,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Here I have attached to you a screenshot of my site where I can put a custom text in the my profile. http://screencast.com/t/GZtGjpOEp . To see this, you need to go to my full profile in the frontend. If you wish to configure it, you can do it by adding custom field in Joomla > Components > EasySocial > Profile Types > (staff) > Custom Fields > Add new field ( + ). Please see my screenshots http://screencast.com/t/JMjHf8Pvrww and http://screencast.com/t/Dz26z97odm .

Regarding this, "Is it possible that I can make a work around on this using Theme?" I am sorry but I can't understand you. Can you please explain more so that we can understand you well and able to assist you on this issue.

Hope this will help.
Thanks.

Hi Mohd,

I don't think you understand me. Yes, I know I can do what you just showed me. What I wanted to do is NOT to show the Notes fields to anyone except for Staff, meaning all Users under Community Profile Type will have a Notes custom field in their profile but no one can see it except for Users under Staff Profile Type. I hope I'm explaining it right

But Mark said it cannot be done in my other related post

Thanks!

Hello LAC,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Yes I am understand your issue completely. Have you try my solution? Here is the screenshot for normal user: http://screencast.com/t/CxvE1Fymkj while this is the screenshot for staff user: http://screencast.com/t/zBmgv0lE . The normal user doesn't have this administrator page, only staff have this. To configure it, you can do it by adding custom field in Joomla > Components > EasySocial > Profile Types > (staff) > Custom Fields > Add new field ( + ). Please see my screenshots http://screencast.com/t/JMjHf8Pvrww and http://screencast.com/t/Dz26z97odm .

I hope i'm explaining this right. Looking forward to hear from you again.
Thanks.

Hi Mohd,

You are showing me the Notes/Text field in Staff Profile but what I needed it to be is with Community profile. Reverse it, I don't need that custom field you showed in Staff profile I need it in Community. But... but I don't want the field visible to Community users, only for Staff users.

Thank you!

Hello LAC,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Sorry for the misunderstanding because I'm referring to your reply which you have said that
I currently have 2 Profile Types, Community and Staff.
. And from the latest reply you have said that
You are showing me the Notes/Text field in Staff Profile but what I needed it to be is with Community profile. Reverse it, I don't need that custom field you showed in Staff profile I need it in Community. But... but I don't want the field visible to Community users, only for Staff users.
If I understand this correctly, Community users and Staff users are from the same profile type isn't? If this is the case, then I believe this cannot be done in the current system.

I am very sorry for the misunderstanding and inconvenience caused.
Looking forward to hear from you again.
Thanks.

No worries Mohd, I don't think it can be done The only way it can be done is if Mark changes his mind and add an ACL to custom fields aside from Privacy.

Thanks,

Jackson
