Hi guys!

Im just throwing this idea out there to see what reaction I get! I am making a dating site, and have customized my site using EasySocial and Jreviews together in order to get my profile page to look like a dating site would. Initially when installing EasySocial I noticed that I needed an area underneath the cover pic, that gave a detailed description of the member. I have, for the moment, figured this out by using Jreviews "Review Me" function (pics attached).

I would love one day for EasySocial to do this though, because it is a real work around in the registration process at the moment, and would save me alot of time if you had a template that allowed this.

Another problem with what I have going is that I cant use ES search at the moment, I use Jreviews because that were all the data is.

Another thing that would be great is if ES made a different user listing. This was another reason why I have to use Jreviews. I love Jreveiws listing layout, and have been using it for listing my members ( I then use a redirect to direct the "listing" back to ES profile page) Ive attached a pic of my listing page too. ES listing page just doesnt work for me, its images are too small, and with not enough user description.

Im hoping that maybe youve been thinking of adding different themes with these alterations in the future. Hopefully some people will agree with me and ask for it too :P

You know I love Easysocial though! I love it!!! Im just trying to make it better ( for me anyway :P )

Cheers
Katie
You know EasySocial wasn't built as a Dating extension, it is built to be a social network where people can interact and share stuff easily.
I am sure you can use it as a dating extension, but you will have to customize it a lot to meet your needs. Sometimes adding a feature might not be as easy as you may think, because of all the dependencies.
I believe a better search functionality is coming in 1.2 where you can do what you described.

Nice website though!!!
Best of luck to you...

Thanks for the heads up on this Katie. As checksum has mentioned, we don't actually have a dating module available yet currently but in 1.2, the user listings has been improvised and it will now use a single column so you have more space to place information about the user.

Hm, it's actually using the same thumbnail size but if you customize the theme file, I guess it's much neater if you can include those fields in the layout too.

Ive been thinking Mark, would anybody there ever take on my customizations as a paid project? I would really prefer to only use EasySocial, and I just need a few addons.

Ive just been looking at the upcoming app from techjoomla, and Im thinking it wont show my jreveiws addons, so I think if I can get my site all ES that would be what I need to do.

I think you know what Im looking for now, with the pictures Ive attached. Do you think there is anybody there, or somebody you know who would be willing to take this on?

Thanks
Katie

You mean you want to display custom fields on the user's listing page?

Yes that, and also I need to have an area in the profile page that shows the users detailed information.

Katie, I think that most of what your wanting to do should be fairly easy using ES API system.

I have been working on a small project that requires me to make calls to specific ES elements and custom fields directly in my template files. You can learn more about how to do this here: http://docs.stackideas.com/developers . Also, rather than paying someone I would recommend trying to do it yourself so that as the site owner/admin you have a better handle of how it is construct. This way when ES has a major version change or if you experience a conflict later down the line you can more easily diagnose the problem.

Thanks,
James

Thanks for having faith in me James but I really wouldn't trust myself with this sort of thing..... I am no developer and cant write code to save my life! Im good at cutting and pasting code here and there... I can kinda read it, but thats about it! I would be coming back to this forum a thousand times with a thousand questions... like I usually do anyway! Pretty annoying huh Mark!?

I think if I can find somebody to do it for me, and making some notes on what was changed where, then I can duplicate the process when I update.

I will definitely be writing Mark after the next update! That is unless you might be up for it now, James? :P

I completely understand Katie.

I am definitely not on the same level as the folks here at StackIdeas but I can usually accomplish what I am after.
If you would like, you can reach me on Skype: hjames82

I would not mind at least giving your idea a once over to see if I can't help out.

I am very familiar with JReviews and have quickly become acquainted with the ES Code Base.

Thanks,
James

It's really not difficult actually as James mentioned and once you are able to do it a couple of times, it would be pretty easy.
